Royal Holloway or Liverpool John Moores for Psychology and Student Life?

I am in receipt of two offers to read psychology; one at LJM and the other at Royal Holloway. They differ greatly in rankings, environment, accommodation costs and social life. Any advise on pros and cons of each institution?
Hi, as you are in the position of deciding between universities I can offer some insight into the benefits of LJMU in comparison. You can expect a practical learning approach to the Psychology course which can offer valuable experience in understanding theoretical concepts but also applying them in real-world settings. Also it is well known Liverpool boasts a fantastic social student lifestyle that is relatively more affordable than London which is reflected in the cost of living day to day and in accommodation. The environment is friendly and inviting and at LJMU lot's of support is available.

Hi,

Congrats on receiving two offers! Personally, I think LJMU is a great place to study. Psychology is based at our Mt Pleasant Campus, which is close to the city centre and is surrounded by social places like restaurants, pubs and theatres. It has the Aldam Roberts Library which is has loads of individual and group study spaces, computers, and a cafe. It's a very warm and welcoming environment across the whole uni, with friendly and approachable lecturers.

Our Psychology course offers a huge range of topics to study and state-of-the-art facilities such as a driving simulator and an EEG lab. It is also accredited by the British Psychological Society. LJMU offers lots of support for student, from Careers Advice to Health and Wellbeing, there are always people who are happy to help.

One of the best things studying at LJMU is the social life. Within university, we have our student-led Student Union which puts on loads of events throughout the year. It has a variety of societies, from Taylor Swift to Biomedical Science, and a range of different sports.

Hope this helps,
