I write this letter to enquire whether you may offer a placement to me at your veterinary practise/ farm/ kennels in order for me to gain some invaluable work experience.

It's veterinary practice  Sorry it's picky but I think things like this are important!

Also, I don't know if English has changed as I've been living abroad for 11 years but I would put "I am writing to enquire...."

Yes, it's great that you have lots of As but I had that many at GCSE and totally crashed and burned at A-Level (admittedly helped by physics teacher who never turned up to lessons etc) and didn't get into vet school when I was 18 - so make sure you keep working hard at A-level  Good luck!

Could some of you help me with this letter - its for work experience at solicitors

Dear -

My name is -, and the reason I am writing to you is to enquire for a possibility of a work experience placement during the 1st July 12th July 2013.

I am 14 years old and a student at the - School. At present I am starting Year 10 and a requirement is that each student takes two weeks of work experience, at the end of the school year. I would like to take a placement with Leathes and Prior to experience the work of a solicitor and the legal system at work.

My course in the next two years I will be taking GCSE’s in English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Triple Science, Religious Studies, French, History and Geography - having already completed German and Astronomy previously.

Out of school I sail frequently - having represented Norfolk and Great Britain at National and International Events. I enjoy Tennis as well as being a keen Skier. On top of this I enjoy playing Clarinet in various orchestras - as well as being a enthusiastic pianist, being approximately Grade 6 and 8 respectively.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely

Hi, you might be better of asking here: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=28

Because we're all vetty people so not really in the know on solicitor stuff! The forum I've linked to is a law one, which would be better suited to your question
Thanks

Dear Madam

I am writing toenquire whether you may offer me a placement at _______equine Hospital to gainsome voluntary work experience.

I am currently eighteen years old and am studying for my Alevels at ___________I wish to gain an insight into the life of an equineveterinary nurse.

I am currently and have been employed at _____veterinary Practiseplaced in _______for over two years now, working in the farm reception everySaturday morning. Here I am able to gain an insight into equine veterinary. However I think it would benefit me toexperience a larger practice, where I would be able to observe operations, shadow vets or nurses and be an extra pair of hands helping out where I can.

I have personalexperience with horses owning two of my own which are kept at a livery yard runby my parents. My mother who is a small animal veterinary nurse working at_____ Veterinary Practice has inspired me since childhood to be a veterinarynurse. My passion for horses and large animals has provided me with theinspiration to want to specialise in equine nursing.

Once I have completed my A levels I am hoping to apply forthe level 3 diploma in equine veterinary nursing at_____. Thiscourse requires a clinical placement at an RCVS approved Practise, which I believeyour practice to be. If you currently donot have the space to take on any trainee nurses I understand but pleasecontact me when a space may become available. I would be hugely grateful forthe experience.

Many Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

Wow! Very detailed letter. In mine I was just like i'm 16 and at school, planning to be a vet and wondered if it would be possible to do some work experience at Angus Canine Centre and Boarding Cattery (for eg) I'd be very much obliged to hear from you, yours sincerely Eilidh Affleck. Obviously all in proper english lol :P I don't think farmers care about your grades/ interests when reading the letter so wouldn't be fussed about putting them in. I'm in first year at vet school. Good luck getting work experience placements!

I am currently sixteen years old and am studying for my GCSEs at ____ School in ___ and wish to gain an insight in to the world of animals and veterinary medicine. Full stop! it is also required to assure a place in veterinary school at university.

Education
I have just completed my GCSEs and hope to continue studying at _____ School Sixth Form to study: chemistry, biology, maths and geography in September.

Predicted GCSE grades
Biology A*
Business and Communications Systems A*
Chemistry A*
English Language A*

History A*
French A
Maths A
Physics A
Religious Education (short course) A*

Experience
I have already completed a two week placement at _________ Veterinary Clinic in _______ and can provide a very positive reference and statement from my supervisor. I also have experience with handling small and large animals as I have had many pets and also own a horse.

Personal Qualities and Interests
I believe myself to be hard working, intuitive and friendly however most importantly passionate about animals. I regularly participate in many extra curricular activities with school such as netball, football and tennis; recently I have attended extra voluntary science lessons at school and am a member of the riding club team as well as regularly eventing.

If you could offer me a placement during the summer holidays between 20th June-13th July or 15th August-1st September or on a Saturday for any period of time I would be hugely grateful. Mention this earlier and not at the end! Add it to your 1st paragraph

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully

I've corrected some spelling and grammar mistakes.

Hi there,

Please don't resurrect ancient threads

There's loads of good advice on this thread but to put it simply you just want to explain when and why you want to attend. I wrote in a bit more detail here  .
