Link? Could be for many reasons. I, for example, come on to tsr more often than is probably healthy and I don't remember seeing it. :dontknow:

Also, this thread and the one you mention talk about do you drink (now, in the present), while the drugs one is about have you ever (at any time). I have no doubt that more people (on TSR or otherwise) have tried alcohol than have tried drugs.

cant find it :>
I drink a lot, but I go out a lot. I have friends that only drink from time to time but that's because they're more likely to socialise with stuff like bowling/cinema than pubbing/clubbing like me.

Fear of not being able to restrain myself if I like it.

When I have had it I dislike the taste.

Don't see why it's necessary when I can have other drinks which benefit me more.
Partly due to a history of alcoholism on my mum's side, partly due to the fact that I tend to be a person of extremes and would rather not get addicted, partly because it's much more fun to watch my friend's drunken antics and see their mortified faces when I tell them about it/show them the photos the next day

I tend to go quieter when i've drank something, so I don't.
There's a guy in my circle of friends at uni who's militantly teetotal. He doesn't drink for religious reasons but he's so judgemental and condecending to all of us that do drink. Hanging out with him is like being in America during the Prohibition era.

I myself drink sparingly. All I can drink is cider, everything else makes me gag.
I'd never drink, and if you met me, you'd realise why.

because I don't need to drink alcohol to have a good time.

I just have no desire to drink, most of it tastes gross and it costs alot.

Oh please shut up, you think you are better than someone who has taken drugs recreationally? It's not as if the people you are talking about are addicts, they are people who choose to try something different.. You may not agree with it, but don't act high and mighty because you have never tried them.

So, if a friend of yours has taken drugs in the past, they are suddenly less of a person to you?

Nobody I know would be stupid enough to consume something, when they had no real idea what it was, or where it came from. True story.
I don't like the smell/taste of alcohol, couple that with the fact that you get hangovers so it's hard to do anything the next day....
I've got a friend who abstained from alcohol until he turned 18..i don't really understand why it's such a big deal, but to each their own :dontknow:
As some other people said, taste buds prefer non-alcoholic drinks. Although a glass of wine every now and again is actually beneficial to one's health, so I force it down my throat occasionally. Then again there are sweet drinks that I adore, cocktails can be amazing.

Religion but I wouldn't drink Alcohol even if it wasn't forbidden.

...religious reasons or moral reasons?

Just interested in different opinions.

Tastes bad, can only handle the taste it if it's weak and flavoured, like bacardi breezers.

I wouldn't want to get 'wasted' just for the sake of it  I like to have a clear head in the middle of the night in strange places if I go out clubbing or whatever thankyou

Plus, I want to keep my liver. I've only got one.

The only reason someone would drink would be to impress someone, or 'cause they can't have a good time without it.

You will have fun at university then with that very naive attitude of yours. I think you will be shocked at the amount of people who want to possibly try something different. I wouldn't be too shocked if your 'friends' were part of that.

Not really
i dont drink alcohol cos im immune to it so even if i drank a bottle of vodka it would be the same as drinking a bottle of water for me ,which is kinda annoying cos ill never know whats its like to be really drunk .
