Can anyone help me out with electron confirgiration of d block elements ie Ti is 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 2p6 4s2 3d2 - why not 4d2?

It goes in the order S(2electrons) P(6electrons) D(10electrons) F(im not sure :tongue:

1s2
2s2 2p6
3s2 3p6 3d10
4s2 4p6 4d10 4f etc..
BUT THE ONLY THING you have to remembere is that 4s2 before 3d10, therefore before u can fill 3d10 YOUR 4s2 has to be complete! :smile:

then the order goes back to normal and anway they dont ask elements having more than 4p6

Ah okay so for example Co will be 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6 4s2 3d7 right?

and for Ti 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6 4s2 3d2 ?

I also need help with 'showing' silver fluoride lattice with charges - what will be their charges?

Its 3d2
theoretical and pratical lattices have a difference cos the compound is not 100% ionice and shows some covalent character as well thus its lower than the the theoretical value
