As I understood from the previous thread, there is some sorta accommodation's website for Imperial? Right now we just choose 5 of them, which ever we like, and then apply to them as soon as we receive the application form in May?

Yes. :yep: Exciting shizz... but you don't find out what room your allocated till like August or something ridick.

I will be applying for twin rooms. I hope they are not oversubscribed??

I'm applying for a twin room too. :five: I hope they aren't oversubscribed although it sounds like they will be! :frown: I will die if I have to pay extra for a fancier room  Have you decided on what halls you want?
I believe it's early september when we find our room allocations.

Have you all decided where to apply to? What were the deciding factors?

At the moment, I'm between a sub-decent ensuite single or a just above decent ensuite twin, but not 100% comfortable with sharing a room. I like to be confined by myself a lot of the time (don't ask, just I like a lot of thinking space; only way for any thing work-wise to sink in :P), and I love to have my music out loud. But of course sharing with someone else doesn't exactly complement those factors :P .

This was one of the reasons why I reconsidered having a twin room :s-smilie: I don't care much for space really as long as the roommate keeps out when I'm doing my work but socialises when needed. I'd much rather have an ensuite tbh because as a contact lens user I hardly want to be running around the corridor with my contact lens case and if I end up losing my contacts, that will be the end of the world. Besides, ain't going to have the boys on my floor see me semi naked as I come out of the shared (:puke:) bathrooms. :colonhash: Call me a loo snob, but I am one.

Also, I swear we get allocated the rooms based on price band? I think you are given your choices based on your affordability of the room.

Fisher Hall
Pembridge Hall
Garden Hall
Holbein Hall
Southwell Hall

The decision for the last one is still fluctuating. I am also a bit worried about getting a fancier room since I will be on a strict budget  (can't wait for a summer placement with some cash flow)

Pembridge is beaut but it's bloody miles away so you might want to think of transport costs (It's a 40 minute walk or something :s-smilie:).
Garden seems to be a popular choice on TSR actually but I'm not sure I was THAT impressed.

Ohhh okay what choice do we get on our rooms then? Choice of a price range, or a top 1-5 choice list for the halls themselves,.... or different? Ensuite is a must for me xD - I don't need to be seen in the morning before a shower haha.
Pembridge was one of my top options (i.e the one ensuite single I can afford), but 40 minutes commute is a bit breathtaking (literally, I have asthma!). Garden has caught my eye, but it seems really posh, especially the lounge or whatever it is. But the idea of BBQs every now and again sounds good. Oh and I really want a pool and a fusbol table wherever I stay!

Where, besides Wilson are there bike sheds? Are we able to rent out those Barclays bikes and use them for like a year or something? Don't think my bike will be worth using xD .

Hmm not sure, I think they allocate rooms based on price and maybe type but I think there will be some sort of lenience on this ie you may get your room type for a costlier price or you may get an affordable room but not the type you wanted.
You're a boy! (You are, aren't you? :s-smilie:) You dont need to be concious of your body! Man up and leave being self conscious to the girls! You should be out killing these girls with your manly self  Anyway I'm going to be out in the corridors every morning eating my breakfast gazing at the view that Imperial has to offer me :colone:
I hear the balconies are lovely. :teehee:

xD man or not, I'm dead in the morning, so I have no idea how bad I actually look haha.

And wow, the buildings for Beit Hall and those around it are amazing - wish I had the money/willpower to work.

I will be 17 when school starts in october - is it true that I must have a single room?

Frickin' hell you're 17 when we start? But yeah, you will have a single room.

haha yes, I'm young. I have a late birthday (november). I'm Canadian and it is normal for us to start university at 17 or 18, depending on when one's birthday is.

How old is everyone else? I'm not very familiar with the UK school system, maybe there is an extra year? or perhaps people take gap years?

Ah well at least you're 18 soon after!
Most people are 18 when they go to uni in September, some people (like me) are going to be 19 or older :nothing: Most people are older due to gap years but in my case, I got held back a year. Ah well, age doesn't really matter at uni! :h:
So you're Canadian? Are you one of the Canadians who speak French?
So I was looking through my accommodation pack today, and I have a couple of questions:

1) The only halls which specified individual internet access were Holbein, Falmouth and Selkirk. Does this mean that none of the other halls have internet in rooms?

2) Holbein doesn't specify "safe bike storage" like some of the others do. Is there somewhere I can keep a bike anyway?
