hi, will be coming to broadgate in sept, stating in a single bedroom flat. Do all the flats have 2 bathrooms? I noticed the ones I viewed did and this would be handy. Also what is it like living off campus? I like to socialise alot and go out round town etc and it seems a lot of people are saying mostly people on University Park are that way inclined. I figured going for the cheaper accommodation at BGP would mean more money to go out?

Also slightly random questions.... where do people at BGP shop?? I've been to the Tesco up the road and assume this is like a 10 min walk at most? Also how much for washing at BGP? And I know a lot of people at university in places like Newcastle were the city centre is very close. Would you say Nottingham students spend a lot of time in the city or stick within the campus? and how much for a taxi into town from BGP. Thankyou for taking the time to answer my questions, much appreciated

Hello

- As far as I'm aware, all flats (single study) have 2 bathrooms in them. If you are in an Upper Court block, you share 2 bathrooms between 5 people but get a smaller kitchen; whereas if you are in a Lower Court block, you share 2 bathrooms between 7 people but get a larger kitchen than in Upper Court.

- Broadgate Park is only just outside the campus, so you won't be missing out on much. In fact, there are over 1,000 students there so socialising shouldn't be a problem!

- Generally, people go into Beeston (which is only down the road from BGP) when doing shopping. There is a Tesco, Sainsbury's, Iceland, 45385738745 Chinese, pizza and Indian take away shops. Also, there are a few charity shops, pubs, clothes shops, Argos and a WHSmith. You practically have almost everything you need within a 10 minute walk from where you live :p:

- It costs £2 to wash, £1 to dry. £3 in total.

- Different people do different things really. Some spend a lot of time in the City, others tend to spend more time on campus. You can get the bus for as cheap as £1 into the City but it is usually £1.60. A taxi into town is between £6-£10, so it shouldn't be much when split between 4 people.

German and Beginners Spanish!

I haven't applied at BGP (all of my choices are on UP campus) but I am doing Spanish and Begginers German! Good to see another linguist, especially doing this combination as it's not very popular compared to the others...will you be getting to do Portuguese as well, or is that only if you do Hispanic Studies?

Hiya, I'm not sure about the Portuguese, yeah it's maybe if you do hispanic studies/aren't doing something from beginners. Anyway it sounds like fun, haha we're like opposites! I chose BGP mainly cause its self-catered and close to the hockey pitches. Spanish and beginners german? Is spanish not just fabulous? I properly cannot wait to start learning it! Also can totally recommend german..its pretty sweet
Oh and does anyone know much about the Nottingham Uni meal cards? My parents were going to buy me one but I was just wondering if they are worth it. Are they to be used Mon-Sun or just Mon-Fri? Also can they be used between certain times only? Or throughout the whole day to buy food? Where can I use this card also? Anywhere on campus or is it limited to cold food at the shops?

The info on the site was very limited :/
