How do you become a brain surgeon?

It's been my dream to become a brain surgeon for years, but I don't know what courses or paths to follow. None of the careers advisers know what to say to me because it's an uncommon career choice for my school. Please can someone help?

First get into Medicine.
It all begins with medical school...
Well, I have been setting up my options to do medicine. What do you do afterwards?

Easy step by step guide.

1. Get chloroform and take to bar.

2. Chat up girl, apply chloroform.

3. Take home, get scalp-

Ok this was going to be way too sickening to post, so I'll just cut it short there.

This.

Do your degree in Medicine. Do F1 and F2, take your exams to get into the royal college of surgeons then work your ass off for about a decade.
Then you will be a brain surgeon.
Get into medical school. Don't bother looking after that because it'll change change by the time you get there.

After medical school you have foundation years, surgical training and specialisation. You're looking at at least 15 years after you get into medical school, probably more like 20.

You would have to do extra stuff to be a surgeon, but first of all - get into Medicine!

Do that first, *then* think about Medicine.

You might even change your mind when you do your F1/F2 years.
I want to be a neurosurgeon. :colondollar:

Not as many as 20, surely? :lolwut:

I thought it was 2 years of foundation, then about 6-8 years of core/specialty surgical training?
Aspiring Genius?
Cocky sounding, you'll fit right in with all the other surgeons :r

Well, I don't think that argument has any weight, since anyone who was able to give you advice on how to become a neurosurgeon would know what 'neurosurgeon' means...

Anyway, like the others said, just focus on getting into medical school currently. That's going to be difficult enough.

He said after getting into med school.

So 6 years of med school. 2 years of foundation. and 7 years of specialty.

That's 15 alone - but that's if you do everything perfect and you get opportunities straight away.
