Has no one heard of Ayreon?! Absolutely amazing albums! Especially The Dream Sequencer, The Human Equation and 01011001

Amy Macdonald (Scottish singer-songwriter) who has some amazing songs (slightly folk/country elements) who isn't too well known but is extremely popular and well known in places like Germany with many chart topping songs (and has had a couple songs, Mr Rock and Roll and This is the Life, in the charts before).

She is excellent, yet i agree is very unknown in this country.

Recently started listening to Explosions in the Sky. Haven't heard much though, any recommendations?

Also one of my mates is a ridiculously big fan of The Skints, and I was supposed to give them a listen too. Again, any recommendations? :P
Broken Social Scene
Metronomy
And So I watch You From Afar (Instrumental, Irish, math rock band - what's not to like?)
Deerhunter
The New Pornographers
Pavement
The Roots
Super Furry Animals
Twin Shadow
The Walkmen
Wild Beasts
Sufjan Stevens

Also a new band who I think could be quite big when their debut album comes out next year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMV8-cp_y34
Groovy.
The Naked and Famous <3

She used to be pretty big in the UK.
Her album (don't remember the name of it) was one of the bestsellers a few years back.

Silbermond (german)

I like Silbermond! In fact, I like quite a lot of German artists, and there are some decent French ones, that none of my friends know. I played one whilst in my friend's car and her mum said "oh god, can't we have something in our own language?" and proceeded to put on something like justin bieber :yucky:

Several of the ones I liked a few years back have become relatively well known, e.g. Passion Pit, the Temper Trap, the XX. I also liked Royworld, but they got dropped from their contract. A Fine Frenzy, Polly Scattergood, Newton Faulkner, Darwin Deez, Erin McCarley, and the Jezabels are all decent.

A really good indie/alternative rock band are Wintersleep, I'd recommend the album "Welcome To The Night Sky". And a small, new band I vaguely know who are really good are the indie rock band "The Last Men" (check iTunes... my favourites are Fuzzy Cuzz, livelounge version of Hunting Dogs and Wash Me Down).

How can you make me choose!? :zomg:  Hmm, maybe a few of my favourites...

EITS:
First Breath After Coma
So Long, Lonesome
Magic Hours
Look into the Air

Heck anything of theirs is pretty damn good  Helps me study as I have nothing to sing along to :awesome: If you like them, you'd probably like The Best Pessimist too - quite similar :yep:

The Skints:
On A Mission (Katy B Cover)
Mindless
Up Against The Wall

What's great is that they actually sound just as good live! They be awesome :yep:

Thank you very much, I'm loving these! =D
Yeah I started listening to EITS while doing work haha, but haven't been able to much since coming back from Uni. And I'll check them out, maybe, at some point - the list of things I need to listen to is massive, too much good music out there <_<
Mindless is great :P
Not many people know about My Morning Jacket.

Although more people know of them know through american dad.

Serious MDMA/Ecstasy music :cool::
