Microsoft Word says I should change 'j'aurais aimé' to 'j'aie aimé' but I thought you can't have the subjunctive with conditional?

if it's for an exam i would avoid bien que in this instance and use a non-subjunctive alternative, if you use subjunctive you risk losing understanding/comprehension.... if you use the "j'aurais aimé aller" then you risk the examiner thinking you don't know that bien que needs to follow with subjunctive.

if you wanna stick with bien que, i think the safest bet is subjunctive.

if this is just french conversation for your life then don't bother with subjunctive for this example. most french people would say "j'aurais aimé aller"

Yes, that is - it's the pluperfect. Well, in past narration, it's used to express an action which precedes another past action or moment.
Now, I don't even know how to use it properly because we don't "say" it very often. You'll probably hear it every once in a while. :smile:

Um, it'd be better off to write:

'J'aurais aimé aller (...), bien que ma soeur cadette SE SOIT véritablement amusée.' Yeah, it's so much better. Plus, there's still a subjunctive in your sentence. :wink:

Bah justement, je l'ai pas mis au subjonctif :confused:

Pour éviter toute cette histoire de subjonctif suite à bien que, j'ai proposé une tournure suivie de l'indicatif (ou bien du conditionnel en l’occurrence).

Même si j'aurais bien aimé... m'a l'air tout à fait correct et quoi que tu en penses, je peux t'assurer que ça se dit très souvent.
