Oh, sorry! I didn't know. I'll keep that in mind.

No worries  I've edited the bits that I understand  European languages are a bit "easier" as opposed to anglicised Eastern languages, because you can at least go to google translate, and copy and paste

As a question - what subject were you doing, and why did you drop out?

Personally, I don't see why it's a big deal. But in regards to myself, I don't know how willing I'd be until that kind of a situation arose in my life.

That makes sense! Sorry again.

I've answered that twice already, haha. Probably shouldn't have mentioned it in the title!
I was studying International Law. I changed to English Lit w/ Creative Writing.
I dropped out because I couldn't be bothered conforming to what my cultural society expected of me. I was under the impression I wanted to study Law and be a lawyer but I guess I was naive and realised my passion was for English instead!

Hey!

Just to say, if we could speak in English please - OR provide the translation at least

What is your problem? With all due respect, could you go somewhere else? There's no need to come onto this thread and start telling people what they can and can't write. No one is being rude or offensive. There are thousands of posts in the cultural/national threads with people talking in a plethora of different languages, and they are never reprimanded or chastised.
My name is Abdul Koyes, as per my username. How old are you?

Hahaha, it makes sense though. Google Translate can't really translate verbally-written Bengali!

I'm 19.

Especially Syhlet-style Bengali (my parents are from there) :P

I'm nearly 19 myself. Only a few months left to go. So what will you choose to do now, instead of Law?

Hehehe, that's cool! I have Sylheti neighbours - they're lovely!

Everyone I meet here is younger than me. WHAT GIVES?

I'm doing English Lit w/ Creative Writing. It's a complete downgrade in the eyes of Bengalis, I know. :colondollar:

"With all due respect" no - It is kinda my job here to enforce the rules... And you're perfectly free to write in whatever language you like in the int'l lounge or the foreign languages section

And you agree to the rules when you signed up, so there are definitely certain things you can and can't write... ie: we would stamp down on things like racism, sexism, anti semitism, anti Muslim comments etc...

Oh sorry should mention that it's not just the fact that European languages can be google translated - it's just that I can at least edit in, whatever Google says to be the translation (Still against the rules)

Why do they all think if you don't want to study anything medicine-related, you're immediately branded to do Law? :hahaha:

Maybe, but they don't understand! Law as a degree is quite restricted and, dare I say, boring. I myself have aspirations to become a lawyer but I will be studying History this september because I know that if I have a change of heart, I can still pursue different careers whereas a Law degree in itself is quite restricted

These 'AMA' things seem to be the trend now so I figured, eh, why not do one yourself.

So as the title says, ask me anything!

Would you date a white non-muslim guy? Just want your views on that

:dontknow: Meh my manager said something completely opposite ie: That I'm very motivated and eager to help...

My dad says I'm "slow" when I try to do things properly - which is exactly what I do at work (Doing things properly, but professionally)

Here's an example of things done quickly, to things done slowly but properly

History was always a no-no subject too so kudos to you for choosing that! And seriously, in our first lecture, they told us "you don't need a law degree to be a lawyer" and there's always a GDL if you wanna do a conversion course later!

Ooh wow, tbh that's a respectable degree like law as it's a core subject, and kudos to you for English ... I hate it haha
