Good to see it back. Not because I care about such things, but because it's such an over the top brouhaha. Maybe the No more Page 3' crowd should focus on more pressing issues like stamping out FGM.

But in the meantime.....

Let's be honest about the issue of children inevitably seeing the soft porn, the only families that buy the Sun are the faggy ones who've force fed their kiddies carbon monoxide and ethanol during gestation, completely obliterating any chance they had in life anyway.

Nah m8. In year 8 we used to sneak into Somerfield on the way to school to get some of that page 3 action.

To be 14 again...

For the millionth time can people please stop quoting me? I no longer want to be part of this discussion because it's horrible and keeps getting personal.

Stop making personal comments about me and just be civil.

I was perfectly civil. If you don't want people to voice disagreement with your opinions, don't voice them. Otherwise, be prepared for people to point out how ridiculous they are. The fact is that it is incredibly self-absorbed to feel objectified by a man looking at another woman's half-naked body. I mean seriously what the **** is that?

If you knew me you would know that I am not self-absorbed at all; I've suffered with low self-esteem and anxiety my whole life.

Second of all, my point is tits aren't news and shouldn't be used to sell a newspaper. The fact that the female body (which I have) is used to sell a newspaper *is* objectifying.

Also I am always up for debate but NOT when it gets personal and you start calling me self absorbed when you know nothing about me. Disagreeing me is fine, I love a good debate, but only when you have a valid argument and can back it up with something other than saying something personal about me.

Now please stop quoting me, I don't want to be part of this anymore.

I think his point is that the woman being pictured is completely fine with being objectified. You aren't the one in the paper. So if she's fine with it who are you to say otherwise?

You keep trying to get the last word in though.

Not getting the last word; just stating what I've already said again and again and I no longer want to say it again.

Thankyou I don't want to be involved anymore

I think you shouldn't be allowed to post on a public forum where people from families can see your views. I disagree with them.

I can't help wondering if in Murdoch's twisted, scheming, reptilian brain, this is meant to be some sort of evidence that he doesn't control the editorial policy of his newspapers. That's always a worry with the regulators. I suspect we will see him waving his hands in the air at some point soon, saying "I told them to ditch it, they wouldn't listen". Yeah, like hell.

I do think the Sun ought to be withdrawn from sale now from all family locations like supermarkets, they are peddling blatant porn.

I don't think it is porn - it's not really designed to be sexually arousing. It's not like anyone takes the Sun into the shower with them.

Women posing with their tits out is soft porn.

No, only if it's designed to be sexually arousing. Unless you think art galleries are full of porn.

For example, if you posted a picture of yourself with your tits out, it wouldn't be porn, because none of us would find it arousing.

****ing feminists won't be happy until all men are miserable

That's a bit of an exaggeration. Only until straight men are miserable.

On a more serious note, even if page 3 was banned, I am sure those who are interested would find other outlets of soft porn.

I'm not sure, I can't think of anywhere else it's available, maybe in the back of a shop in Soho, but that's a long way to go.

You are so full of **** it hurts my brain.

I have actually been catcalled and had my arse pinched on numerous occasions, how much of a **** was given those days? Zero.

You act like every time you leave your house men are catcalling you - get over yourself love.

Luckily i don't have to use public transport, but back in the days i did, i didn't stare around looking for someone who was reading a newspaper / magazine to find something to be offended by.

I see women all the time ogling attractive men in their magazines / on the street etc never given it two thoughts before, i'm aware men are attracted to women and vice versa - Who gives a flying **** if some bloke on the bus is reading the sun and skims past a pair of tits or if some women is drooling over a shirtless guy.

You should probably find something else to fulfil your life or believe me you will end up bitter and miserable.

Full page spreads about how x celebrity broke a nail or put on half a lb is not news either but it seems to get more attention then the tiny article somewhere deep in the middle about someone being horribly murdered. The Sun is a pile of garbage non news / bull**** news. Funny how no one's campaigning for newspapers such as The Sun and DM to stop printing fear mongering / outright lying articles misinforming the public about key issues.. But oh no what's important is that men don't see a pair of tits.. think of the children!! (who don't read newspapers).

To be fair, it is easier to single out a regular feature than to look out for a huge number of different fear mongering articles.

I was actually thinking more along the lines of interwebs.

"It sucks" for YOU, so you do not want anyone to see P3. Some people are not repulsed by the female form and think it is a thing of beauty.

It is, it really is! To look at a woman and think "wow she is hot" is perfectly fine. As a species our very survival has hinged upon this sexualisation, if we had not sexualised each other in the past then YOU would not be here.

When you see someone you have never spoken to and do not know, it is perfectly natural to judge their looks. We cannot think 'oh what a wonderful person with great personality', we do not know WTF their personality is like or if they are a wonderful person.

So should we not be judging their looks? Well I am sorry but as I said our survival has hinged upon this and it is completely natural if evolutionary biology is considered and when did I sign up to have my internal thoughts moderated by prudish feminists?

Another ridiculous assumption is that if a man thinks a woman is hot that his mental faculites have been exausted and he has no room for other emotions or thoughts. I can look at a woman and think she is hot and also show her complete respect and value her opinion and intellect.

Really? you must be a real eyeful then because I cannot remember the last time I seen ANYONE being catcalled. Or is this more hyperbolic exaggeration by feminists, some of whom paint a picture that females are terrified to leave their house for fear of rape, violence and objectification.

I have absolute contempt for the message many feminists are trying to send out. If many young girls take their BS literally they could form very warped views of men which could lead to relationship and mental health issues.

Thanks for taking the trouble to decide for everyone what is and is not acceptable in society.

P3 does not show sex just partial nudity, there are so many ridiculous taboos about nudity in society. The human body is without doubt the most impressive piece of kit any of us will ever own.

It doesnt make someone sexist because they appreciate a pair of tits! Some woman are comfortable with their bodies, proud of their body and wish to show it off. Some woman find this empowering and some men are happy to look and appreciate it too. I fully support a womans rite not to wear scanty clothes and to define their self worth through their jobs, personality or whatever else. You have to remember that is not a representation of ALL woman though. Some woman care more about aesthetics. If feminists really want all woman to have choice then these woman should have their choices respected too!

It is interesting that it is only the "female form" which is recognised as a "thing of beauty" in that newspaper. In addition, I am sure that objectifying the representation of naked women (who men are not likely to ever meet) in a national newspaper is going to aid in survival of our (most dominant mammalian) species.

Yeh, well who wants to look at a naked man, sheesh!

I support the move but I think the reasoning given by Lucy Holmes is off. Instead of "simply asking that women be represented with respect, like men," all people should be treated with respect. There is no reasons to objectify people in this manner, Ms Holmes weakens her argument by specifically focusing on women. As we see below, it is not just women who are objectified. There are numerous examples of men objectified in womens' magazines with one article judging the abs of strangers.

Pardon! Did you state something meaningful? You see, I was distracted by the photos of those fit male models.
Don't understand the fuss. It's only a pair of tits. Every summer we get pages and pages in regular papers of people in bikinis sunbathing. Don't see how this any different.

I believe a plastic covered edition is available.
