Is there any Creative writing at all in the English BA?

I've been looking through the modules and I'm super disappointed there only seems to be one module which includes creative writing and its in the 3rd year

Can anyone confirm this?
If that's what the website says then that's what it is. Maybe get in touch with the uni and see if there are additional things you can do such as get involved with some of the work being done by the people teaching that module or a society.

Thanks for the reply, societies are a good shout, but

What do you mean by "get involved with some of the work being done by the people teaching that module"?
The people teaching the module will be doing research presumably so see if you can get involved with that. I know QMUL has a lot of media outlets but not sure if that's relevant.

Hello,

Generally creative writing tends to be something encouraged in the later years as in first year the modules are all set. However there are chances to do creative writing in lots of assignments on other courses. I think the Shakespeare module has the opportunity for some creative and (this may have changed as I've just graduated) the Representing London module has the opportunity for a creative assignment, as did the 1950s British Culture module. You can also talk to your supervisors and say that you want to do creative writing and they will let you know opportunities!
We also have these writing opportunities for:
The Print (newspaper): http://theprintnews.co.uk/
CUB (magazine): http://cubmagazine.co.uk/
and QM Review (spoken word and poetry): http://my.qmul.ac.uk/news_and_events/2015/157696.html

Hope this helps! -Sarah
