Question on the new Spec.

I was just looking around on Justmaths and I came across this and would like to know if this is true.

I am currently retaking GCSE Maths with AQA. I am literally craving to get 4 (But aiming for a Grade 5). Does this mean that less people will get Grade 4's or above? I am stressing out a-lot because I really need a grade 4.:frown:

It is the Opinion of the web sites author. It refers to the fact that with the new grading structure some people who would have got a C in the past will now get a 4 and some will get a 5. The author believes that school performance will be judged on the numbers gaining a 5 or above and logically there will be less of those than who would have got a C or above previously. There should not be a significant difference in the number of people with 4 or above.

Thanks for the reply, I also see this on the news. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-38676729
Have Wales also applied the same Specification aswell with their maths? I see that 46.1% got A*-C and normally it's around 60%ish? This worried me more :s-smilie:

No Wales has implemented very different reforms.

These results are from the first set of students to ever take the new exams in Wales. These exams were in November and were largely taken by students who had not yet completed their GCSE maths courses. These students should normally have waited until summer 2017 for their maths exams and many will take them again to get an improved grade.
