Footnote and end-note in MLA style

What is the difference between in-text citation and footnote? and what is the difference between work cited list and end-note? and when to use each of them?
I am confused guys!

Works cited lists and end-notes basically use the same formatting (owl.purdue.edu has a complete style guide for that in MLA) except end-notes are done in footers using the relevant button on Word, whereas works cited lists are formatted manually. In-text citations in MLA are just the surname of the author/s and the year of publication, and are used in the body of an essay instead of a number in superscript referring to an end-note. It doesn't really matter which one you use, although works cited lists and in-text citations are often used together (since the former doesn't tell the reader where in your essay you have cited each work).
