Applied Psychology OCR 2018

anyone that is doing a level psychology on the OCR exam board could you please share any revision tips or useful resources that you have been using
Any Predictions will also be helpful
i know that the 2017 paper used Raine et al for crime and Wood et al for child

The blog Pavlov's blogs has really helped me on some studies, it doesn't cover many of the studies I'm doing (Edexcel) but it's still helpful. I also really like their section on GRAVE and evaluating studies.
I've also seen people doing OCR saying this website is helpful to them. (This also looks helpful)

Yeah I like the zimbardo!! Core studies is okay ish.... there is just a load to remember. I have just revised the Moray Audubon and I HATE it! Any advice on any psychology revision?

Yes i agree the ZImbardo study is quite straight forward. i already new aboout this study as i watched a movie about the whole thing. ALso it will be useful to note that Raine et al came up for crime last year and Wood et al was used for child.the core studies seem okay i just need to go over the results that were found for each of them .

ive made sure to focus heavily on debates as psychology as a science was weighted heavily in last years paper so am assuming a similar debate will be important in this years

Repetition , repetition and Repetition!!!!! Thats the best way to learn the studies

For child psychology my teacher thinks Ainsworth is likely to come up as it hasn't appeared once in any of the past papers.
Also, I hope Haney et al comes up too, although there's a LOT of background research around the key study.
How is everyone feeling about the research Methods paper in 11days? Anyone has tips on the 15 mark design your own study' question?

did you ever do ISA's in Science in Secondary School? They are pretty similar so if you can remember how you do them, apply the same type of structure
this is how i basically do it and tend to get 13/14 out of 15
define the Research Method and state why you have chosen it - Independent measures design or repeated measures
List control variables (anything you are keeping the same- atleast 2) and state why and how this will help with reliability
State the sample and why you are choosing to use them you could also include the sampling technique
Create a Procedure that you are going to use for your participants- try to keep it as simple as possible so that you can explain it either.
Write about any methodological issues that you may face including ethics

I would say make sure you know the background research and theories that relate to each topic in applied, not just the key research. And applications of the key research so you can answer part c questions.

In last year's paper there was a lot of statistics so I would recommend revising them

two days to go till research methods... how's everyone feeling? i've been revising the non-parametric tests but my GOSH they're all so boring! it's not like the core studies where you can imagine something daft like a grown man fully kicking the hell out of a bobo doll to revise.. i really hope more of the first ten than the second ten studies come up since those i remember in much more detail :/

What helps me revise the studies is rather than looking at them as a whole, split it up into aim, design, sample, strengths, weaknesses ect.
Use flashcards with each part on e.g aim, design, sample ect because these are the things that are usually asked about in the exam.
Remember that reductionism and determinism can be used for most of the studies for weaknesses and for similarities
