I’ve been rejected by the same reason lol
Overall is about 71%. I had a chemistry degree in university of Sheffield. Hope it will help.

Cheers for the updates guys -

Decided to accept Bristol in the end due to reputation and far more convenient for me as I wouldn't need to relocate etc.

Jteve:
I do know someone who took the conversion at Birmingham, they said it was good, that everyone on the course took it seriously and he's now working as a software engineer.

In regards to prep, I've basically been going through the course spec and researching the contents of each module as much as I can.

On top of CS50x would also recommend...

Sams Teach Yourself Java in 24 Hours (Book)
Udemy - 30 days of Python (Free online course)
Codewars and Daily Coding Problem

Personally, I have no plans to work during my course as I want to give it my 100%. Also not a solicitor or anything but I'd be surprised if they reject your student via provided you have enough funds to cover the tuition fees and expenses, though I don't think you can work on a student visa.

Great thanks for the tips!
I'm currently a mature undergraduate studying English Lang and Media Comms but always preferred to go over and speak to the developers at work about their projects rather than speaking to the team on Media Accounts.

Hi guys. I've got offers from Cardiff and Swansea. Waiting for Birmingham, Newcastle and Dundee. I was just wondering about the career prospects after the MSc considering I have no relevant experience or computer science qualifications. Would it be worth doing a phd or another MSc to specialise or is there no need if I don't want to go into research or academia?
Hey guys. I have offers from Birmingham and Bath for the MSc in Computer Science, not sure which one to go for. Any ideas? Learning towards Birmingham as I've heard more about it and it seems like a good course.

A PhD won't make you employable unless you're planning on going into research or academia. It will also hinder your chances in majority of cases as you'll be deemed overqualified for many roles (excluding R&D roles), so only consider a PhD if you truly want to do research. Doing another masters will be a waste of time and money since you'll be stuck in the same phase, so you should revaluate your career goals if that's what you're thinking.

Best bet is to make full use of events organised by unis (e.g. hackathons, career and networking events which are very crucial ), develop a portfolio of all your projects (GitHub is useful), apply for summer and graduate internships (there are A LOT out there), possibly take up a part time job in IT at the uni you will be attending (they have a lot of empty vacancies, so you should look around). Another alternative is to do the masters part time and work. You should also do research on what sort of jobs you want to get at the end of your masters. There’s a massive range of IT, technology and computing roles so first narrow down what you want to do (especially since each look for a particular skills). Then proceed to doing more research into the market, and finding what skills is necessary in order for you to build them early on prior to completing your masters. Final step is to learn about companies you're interested in, note down their application cycles, and start building a speculative application for each one of them.

Received an offer from Imperial and looking to sort out accommodation. Would be interested in joining any others who are on the course and looking to find a place near Kensington as well!
Is the UCL masters conversion course in Computer Science a good uni and course?

I am also wondering what I would do after finishing it? Do people find good jobs after?

Trying to weigh up the costs and benefits...

Got rejected by imperial just before 5pm yesterday, second ref approved Feb 11. said this was the reason for rejection “Unfortunately, although your application meets our requirements, competition for places on your chosen programme is extremely high so we have been unable to offer you a place this year.”

Still not sure if that means I would’ve got in if I’d known about the course earlier and applied to it in November cause presumably some people did get the last remaining places yesterday. Congrats to whoever got the offers though

Do you mind sharing some stats? I'm looking to apply next year/see how I fair

Stuff like how many internships, degree grade etc?

Hi,

I submitted my application for MSc Computing Science to ICL on 19th July! I know it is very late but I hadn't decided on doing Masters earlier. My references have been approved but there is no other progress at all, the documents still show "received". Application status is just "completed". How long did others have to wait to receive an offer and were there any changes in the portal between the approval of your references and you receiving an offer? I don't have much confidence but oh well!

Aye, I should should be there, as long as I get a confirmation from SLC for the Masters Loan in time. I can't wait either. Been a long time since I was at Uni, and looking forward to doing it properly this time.

Any recommendations for places to look for share-houses?
