postpone to when?
september is the month where this virus will re-emerge (if it slows down in the first place)
also, how will they manage it?

I expect exams to go ahead, although schools may close.
If the country is in such a shambles they could delay opening unis as they may be closed anyway and chance the whole academic year. In that way you could sit your exams later in the year.
They are taking things day by day and week by week to see what happens.
At some stage education is not as important as the health of the nation or the economy.

realistically this can't happen.
too many schools overpredict for it to be feasible - and only 50% end up getting their predictions bc of this.

Hence - the private schools + overpredicting states would disproportionately benefit.
And also unis factor this in when giving out offers, meaning they would have given a disproportionate number of spots out for the amount of student places available x

Correct. Uni’s make many more offers than they have places available. If everyone is awarded their predictions automatically then most Firm choices would be absolutely swamped, they just wouldn’t have the capacity.

The petition won’t make any difference because it’s much too early to know what’s going to be happening next week, much less in September. The most likely outcome is delayed exams and a January start, but at the other end of the scale we could lose an entire academic year.

A petition is not the best method to select the process going forward.

But they may get nothing if they’re ill or they are stressed because their parents die!! That wouldn’t be ‘fair’ would it? Students should be given grades, based on work throughout the course and coursework. Some children living with parents who are very high risk should not be put in the position of having to make decisions about whether to go into school or not.

Let's be honest, there is no way they are going to use predicted grades in any circumstance. Last year, 60% of the cohort didn't even meet their predicted grades.

No reason why coursework can't still be marked and used towards overall grades in conjunction with Alps scores and final teacher predictions, rather than just using estimated grades from October.

Stupid idea, universities are already giving out more offers than they have places and an incredibly large portion of people don't meet their predicted grades.

It would be a year of admission full of people who don't deserve the places, frauds.

Exams will have to be postponed.
