It's just the norm at Oxbridge, you're told you're 'reading for XYZ' by the faculty, occasionally you then say that yourself. That's not surprisiing, nor much of a reflection on your original class (though virtually all Oxbridge students end up in the middle class after uni).

If you say read instead of study I will presume you're a private school educated southerner that'll be getting all their funding from dear old mummy and daddy rather than SFE.

Posted from TSR Mobile

That couldn't be further from the truth in my case.

Sometimes read is simply more appropriate.

Hahaha I was thinking the exact same thing before!!
It only sounds good if you say something along the lines of 'i'm going to read law at oxford'. Imagine if I started telling people I was going to read psychology and criminology at Salford, what a total dick I'd sound haha

Then I think it says more about the quality of the degree than anything.

Which is why I said it sounds good if you're at Oxbridge or the likes. Anything less and you just sound like you're trying to be something you're not.

They went... :K::lol:

I'm not comfortable sharing my results on here, however.

You can find them at the bottom of this page

These kids sound so pretentious :/

You're not upper class, allow yourself.

Like...

"I'm going to read law at xyz university"

Mate.. go read a book.

-_-

Thoughts?

And how would you deduce that someone is not 'upper class'?

Maybe you should "allow yourself"... typical scally.
