I applied for Medicine and as my 5th option I chose Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Nottingham and now I think I'd rather do Biomed. Do you think there's any chance that they'll consider me for Biomed instead?

depends if you really want to do that, or stay with medicine and re apply next year, save money time and all that

    depending on grades and that

its better to do the degree you want to do and what you think you will enjoy, also look at med school see which degrees they take for the route in after you get your degree

i have looked at medicine, depends how this year results go, hopefully ok and i get that 2.1, i could be a 2.2

dissertation is ok, just long and confusing, when i am doing something which is new to me, others seems to have stuff linked or have done it during their degree, a few of us here are doing new stuff :p:

deadline in 2 weeks, just have to write my results up and discussion

Out of interest, when do you specialise after your biomed degree? I'm starting a IBMS/HPC accredited applied biomed degree in September, and hopefully I'll make it on to the placement (if I don't get HIV or Hep C or something lol). I'm in Scotland, and I've just done a course which is basically identical to 1st year biomed in Scotland (and a bit more, here the biomed degrees don't start micro till 2nd year (English 1st year) and I've been fannying about with my inoculating loop all year hah). But yeah, do you undergo further training after your biomed degree with the HPC to specialise in certain areas? What type of areas can you go into?

(sorry for the long, rambly post)

I'm not sure how different the courses are between Wales and Scotland, obviously the HPC and IBMS standards will be the same, so here's what I know:

Get your BMS degree, and your placement in the middle of your degree you will do a portfolio of evidence and gain a certificate of competence which satisfies the IBMS.

Once you graduate, take your degree and certificate of competence to the HPC, satisfying their most essential criteria for registration.

For specialising Either spend a year full time completing a MSc in your area of interest. Or do it 2 years part time while you work. I think theres a specialist portfolio that needs to be done too. Don't quote me on that though because im still in the research process of this myself!

You should look at both the universities on a whole ie which has a better reputation. Also look at whether or not they are campus/city uni's. How far away from home they are. Which place you would think suits you the best. Which courses topics inspire you the most. There are a lot of things you can go and research for yourself, you must have some idea of which place you want to go to as it's your application, we didn't make you choose Leeds or Edinburgh

I dunno, not applied for one as of yet, ideally I want to know my results, seeing as I feel I could get anything between a 2.1 or a 3rd

see what happens after that, I would mind working, one of the few who maybe looking forward to working

the only thing at the moment to take me back to studying is medicine, see on the results :p:
