I don't drink - tastes horrible to me.

I just found something else to do - salsa dancing - and got involved in other societies (SlapSoc and Animesoc) and that has kept me plenty busy.

I don't drink (although I did have 2 beers at Intro Party, more because I wasn't enjoying it and felt I had to extract £9 worth of enjoyment somehow) but I'm just trying to go along with it really.

I'm a non - drinker. My flat mates are totally the opposite though!

I usually have a couple of drinks when out with friends, but not to the extent of being drunk and out of it.i dont see the point

i also dont really want to do the nights out clubbing, not really my thing, so i find it quite hard to fit in, especially because i live at home as well.

bet i sound like a right loser lol.
maybe i'll join salsa society as well!it sounds good, anyone know anyother good societies i can join to meet people?

Hehe well that makes a whopping five of us so far.

I don't get drunk anymore - I did that for a couple of years and got sick of it. I like a glass of brandy, whiskey or wine, but I hate pretty much all beers / lagers.

I live in York and commute to Leeds daily so I won't really experience the drunken hordes - I get enough of those working Fri/Sat nights in York town center.

I just got back from 5 weeks in Hong Kong - the nightlife is much nicer there. No pubs, no nightclubs - people sit around tables with noodles and talk in resteraunts or in the street. I saw one drunk person in the entire time I was there.

You can join the too shy thread, the way that it is looking it may be starting a new society of our-selfs. We invite drinks and non drinkers. I myself drink a little but not so much that I am out of control.

omg - I kow how you feel! My flatmates are mad clubbers - they have been out every night so far. One of the girls has already got a lad over. I don't really go out clubbing etc - I prefer to keep my socialising whilst at uni but as soon as I get to my room I want to relax and just watch tv or something - but I seem to be the only one!
I haven't got used to the drunken students running around at 2am just yet....
Despite having paid £3400 for my flat - me thinks on the occasional day I may treck back home to good old Manchester

I dont mind living in my home town of wetherby which is about 12 miles out from leeds because like you said missy, i also like to escape the madness and chill out in my room!

I quite like walking round my town on a friday night with my friends going to the pubs, because there arent hoards of drunken people running around

maybe we should set up a society lol,

A society? Where do I sign? :-) I certainly see where you're all coming from.

I had the same discussion on my own forums and it went more or less the same way.. http://www.darkreavers.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=26

Maybe we should run for government.

I'm at Leeds Uni, and staying at James Baillie Park. My timetable is quite good - so I can come home on the odd day whenever I want

 What should such a club do? Just sit around and drink orange juice while burning bottles of Smirnoff? I'm open to suggestions...

Hehe it's not that we want to abolish drinking per se, I think we are just a bit apalled that it's the no.1 pastime of students and it's promoted as such. Sitting in dimly lit rooms slowly losing balance and self-control really isn't that fun. At least that's my view. The alcohol should not be the "source" of socializing it should just be a little addition to it.
