Is Nottingham Trent Law School any good??

Hi,

My friend and me were both applying to the same universities (co-incidence) and I got accepted in my firm and she didn't. Our firm wanted AAA - Leeds University for Law LLB. I managed to get AABB and they accepted me, however my friend got ABB with one of her b's being 2 marks of an A. Her insurance Nottingham Trent has accepted her. But she wants to know more about the Law School in Nottingham Trent, is it good? What is good about it? Is the teaching any good? What is the employment rate like? She's looked online but wanted to know other people's opinions who are studying there or who are going to study there. There are a lot of negative thing's that people say about NTU, but is it really that bad?

Its excellent - the buildings they are housed in look good too! Every ~Uni has good and 'less good' departments - Law is one of the best at Trent.

That's so re-assuring. Mostly everyone says such negative thing's abou Trent, like its not as good as Nottingham, it has chavy low grades students, bad teaching etc. I hope none of its true though:smile:

Well it isn't as good as University of Nottingham to be fair. But apart from that it's still a reasonably good uni - I think it would be a lot more respected if it didn't have to share the city with Nottingham Uni as it sort of over shadows it a bit.

But anyway, like I said Trent is still a good uni and the Nottingham Law School actually has a good reputation.

Its a good department and is definitely different to Nottingham Uni, as they really more heavily on exam and coursework whereas trent give you practical skills as well such as mooting and debates. Its one of the things staff at both unis mention when doing events together, so trent uses lots of different teaching methods. I haven't done the course but know people that have at both Unis in nottingham.

One of the strongest students on the BPTC at Nottingham this year did his LLB at the University of Derby, which actually has barristers on its teaching staff for the LLB, something the University of Manchester, where I went, can only dream of.

I know someone doing Law at Trent - and he also got the grades (and an offer) from Nottingham Uni to do Law aswell, but choose Trent over Uni - so I think that says something

I'm going to do Law there too  The Law school has a good reputation, not sure about the University overall though.

Hi,

I had achieved A* AA as A level grading profile (42 distinctions and 3 merits) from my Access course in Health and Social Care last year. I'm based in Nottingham but live 20 minuites away from City centre. Due to the city and experience through an open day event at both: University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University. I much preferred to choose Nottingham Trent University as my firm choice to study LLB Law with a Sandwich placement degree.

I did not enjoy my experience and feel for a study environment with University of Nottingham. As it was all spread out and confusing within navigating wise. Whereas, Nottingham Trent University was all based in the city centre next door to each other, and has better opportunities in terms of employment and societies including, lex, pro bono clinics, a built in NLS firm and much more. Which University of Nottingham does lack but offers the basics under great links and excellent research. Nottingham Trent University also has great links, and long term and valid experience that all counts than just being a Russle group.

I'm looking forward to joining Nottingham Trent University this September to study Law.

I’m studying business management with Human Resources in September and I think NTU is one of the best unis around. Number 1 for employment says alot. Went past on a tram the other day and the campus looks amazing. I agree that uni of Nottingham seems to be more spread out and their buildings are quite old fashioned too

Hi Jamie,

I went to both open days: University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University.

I would say that I've enjoyed the experience at Nottingham Trent University better than University of Nottingham. It's a city and a campus friendly university that has everything located next door to each other. When I've visited the University of Nottingham. I was experiencing full of fear of being lost and anexity by not knowing where everything was located. Often times, I would get exasperated and begin shread tears down my eyes. Even though, I suffer from Mental health depression and Anexity. Due to the way everything was spreaded out, like a map of a park. Giving that the Univeristy park is beautiful and has plenty of gentle greeney of flowers, grass, full oxygenated trees. It's not an ideal place where I would see myself as a student.

Most people for fully well on the Student Room hub app would recommend me to study at a Russle Group university. At the end of the day, when a non russle group like Nottingham Trent University is just as good as University of Nottingham. The University itself is easier to navigate then, why not choose Nottingham Trent University?

Thank you for your response. I am sorry that when you went round University of Nottingham and it gave you anxiety. I have a weak left leg so tb that would be no good for me. For me, NTU offers alot more than University of Nottingham. I don’t really care if it’s not a Russell university. I deffo am hopefully going to NTU. BUT just waiting on compelling personal reasons to be accepted so I can actually attend since last time I went to uni I was depressed and anxious.
