Ravensbourne 2013 offer holders!

Hey guys! I've been made an unconditional offer by Ravensbourne! Most likely putting it down as my firm choice
Anyone else have offers for Digital Photography or any other subject there too?
Also, has anyone confirmed their Rave offer yet, and if so, have you heard anything from them?

Hey man, congratulations on your offer! I have an offer from Ravensbourne for the Digital Television Production course!
I am most likely going to firm it, just the accommodation will be so expensive, and I have offers from Bournemouth and Westminster; making it even harder to definitely choose!

Thanks! Congrats to you too . Ooh that's a good point, it's come up as £174pw for the Rave accom, with a 51 week contract. Pricey, but walking distance to Rave so we'd save money on transport, plus they look pretty amazing!
I have an offer for Westminster too! It looks pretty cool, but my offer is BB. I'd rather accept my unconditional and sort out some accommodation, than worry about reaching the grade requirements haha! Especially as Rave is more highly regarded!

Cheers man!!
Yeah the £174 pw is pretty pricey, but the way I see it is that the 51 week contract is good, as it means you are actually living in London basically all year, which will be handy if you have a job whilst at Uni and with industry work placements.
Yeah Ravensbourne is more highly regarded! Westminster's TV studio isn't even HD yet, which puts me off, but then their student work is amazing and has won many student RTS awards!
And then with Bournemouth's reputation, but so far from anywhere...

Tough choices!

Yeah that's very true! It's just that most uni's accommodation contracts are for 41 weeks, ending just before summer when you go home/go on holiday which is a good way to save a bit of money!
It's not even HD at Westminster, when Ravensbourne have (if I remember correctly) 3D equipment?!
Bournemouth is definitely a bit too isolated.. that's why I didn't apply to Falmouth! Being the only community isn't fun. At least in London you can easily meet students from a variety of different uni's and make loads of mates!

Nope, they have very good cameras and lens, giving brilliant quality. But their studio is not HD yet, no.
Yep, Ravensbourne have 3D Stereoscopic equipment, and also rent in specialist cameras as and when you need them (RED EPIC, Phantom, etc), but this is what I heard by current students, at the open day and at the interview!
Exactly. The industry is all about collaboration and working with new people, making London a perfect location as it has people from all walks of life!!

I am 90% sure I am going to firm Ravensbourne!!!

Then I think from the sounds of it you've made your decision  I've been told multiple times Ravensbourne is one of the hardest arts universities to get offers from; they're very specific in selecting students they believe would make a great addition to the university. The prestige that comes with a degree from Ravensbourne is without a doubt enough of an influence alone to make you firm it! And as you say, the other degrees offered there are well suited to you being able to merge and adventure into new areas!
I'm probably going to firm my unconditional from there, it's too good an offer to refuse!
Also, is your course at Westminster based at the Harrow campus, like mine? I've been debating over this, as the price of living in Harrow is surely cheaper than in Greenwich, and surely the campus feel would create a student environment more idyllic than Ravensbourne.. but I guess it's down to what kind of university life you want! If you did want that campus feel then surely you could have just applied to any other university in the UK, as the majority are isolated and campus based. Harrow does have other downfalls, being a 40 minute tube journey from the outskirts of very central London does make it seem a bit of a distance from all the hustle and bustle.. but its down to what you think you'd benefit more from!
Hope this helps

Hahaha, I would say I have made my mind up... ;D

Ravensbourne is just amazing, say no more. From what I have heard, and seen, it is just the place to be for any media hopeful and creative! My conditional offer of a CC is just too good to refuse as well, hahaa, considering I should get ABB. Only if Ravensbourne did bursaries...

Yeah, I have an offer for the Television Production course at Westminster, which is a very good course, but Ravensbourne is much more appealing; especially as this is the first year of the Digital Television Production course. Living in Harrow is cheaper, like £135 pw in halls, but the halls are pretty bland; especially compared to the new Scape halls in Greenwich.

The only thing Westminster has over Ravensbourne is that 'traditional' campus and student life, but I want to study, live and work in London! And like you said, Harrow is miles out of Central London!

Ravensbourne it is, haha...
Had my interview for Digital Film Production yesterday; the bloke who interviewed me was the nicest guy, we had a casual chat and he gave me a conditional offer on the spot.

Well done!!

Are you looking to be staying in the new halls at Greenwich?

Hi, I got a conditional offer for the Digital Film degree and have it as my firm (I also have decline everywhere else hahah so no back-up!) but I think I am going to flat share cause the price of the halls is too expensive for me, the only problem is I have no-one to do it with, so if any1 is interested in renting a flat somewhere then let me know  x

Hey I'm looking to rent a flat soon but I didn't have no-one to do it with :frown: it's not really good to share it with someone you don't know because they can steal your stuff ,be a very messy person, dont have money to pay half of bills, I will like to but I don't know you at all so I'm not sure on that

Hey congrats! How come you have to decline all your other offers if you firm a conditional offer? Surely you can choose an insurance?

Hey! Yes you'll have no trouble getting in with an offer of CC! I've been in contact with a current student at Ravensbourne over the past few days who's doing the course I have my offer for.
From the sounds of it, Ravensbourne really does seem AMAZING! Everything she mentioned is basically Ravensbourne gearing you up to send you off into the real world! The work they set all seems so relevant, whereas at Westminster (for my course) they seem to set you a lot more work on the theoretical side to the subject, and less on the practical side. That's definitely not what I want out of my degree! Ravensbourne wins hands down!

What I will say about the Harrow halls is that they are better than Ravensbourne's in that they have a communal kitchen for each flat, allowing for better social benefits than Ravensbourne's Scape halls! From what I've read and seen, Scape halls have their own mini kitchenette inside each room, and I don't think they have the communal kitchen per flat? Instead I think they have one big communal kitchen on the ground floor of each building? I don't think this is as good as one per flat, and I can't see many people using it as a socialising space?

Also with Harrow, to experience any sort of nightlife you'd have to travel 40 minutes into the centre of London every time, and as my friend recently told me, Harrow is dead, and that if you're making the move to live down in London you might as well make it worthwhile, by living nearer to central and making the most out of all London can offer!

Yeah man, that's awesome! I have heard from current students that the best part about Ravensbourne is learning about actual current practices, and even future practices! Although theory is important, it is no way near as important as the practical elements; as that is what the employers look for!

Harrow Halls is more sociable in the sense that there are shared kitchens, they are on site, and the campus itself has an SU bar. The new Scape Halls do each have a kitchenette, which kind of pisses me off as I would much rather share a kitchen and at the same time save a bit of money!
The Scape Halls do have large communal areas with TVs and Pool tables, which is pretty cool, and then will allow a more social front to the halls. But to be honest, I'm the sort of person who will force being social to the people I am around; I am not sitting in my room for the 51-week contract, that's for sure...

The only problem with the nightlife in London is the cost, but I guess that's what the overdraft is for on your bank account  But hopefully the SU will sort out a decent Fresher's Week!!!

I've been given an unconditional offer for editing and post production at ravensbourne!

Anyone else got an offer for that course, not seen anyone with one so far...

Oh and is anyone living at home if they go to ravensbourne? I would love to live away but seeing as it's a 30 min train journey would be a bit of a waste of money.. haha

Hi, hahah that's fine, those things haven't really crossed my mind, I have been so focused on actually getting a place to live that I haven't really thought about the type of people I could be living with. But I am still looking to flat share, and I am sure I will be able to make a good judgement when I meet whoever it is when looking for a place. Thank-you anyway

and JCF - I declined them all because I decided that if I am paying £9,000 per year for a degree, I am not going to settle for 2nd best  I would rather wait another year and see what it brings me than go to whatever my insurance would have been.

Same here about sharing a kitchen! But I guess that factor has its pro's and con's! Haha same here, I have a feeling we'll be joining forces in starting some flat parties
And yeah last year the SU organised Kids in Glass Houses for freshers I think, which is pretty good!!
