Was just wondering where people found their houses to rent? I'm moving from N.Ireland so need to look online for a flatshare or something, but have no idea where to look!

Oooh cool, well we might get some details over the summer maybe? I know neither can I - I'm not 100% on this but I think our first placement is around october time! Eeek

Yeah it sounds like you are. I'm 21 so age wise we are pretty similar  x

Not really sure Alicia as I am living at home and just driving in. But I know there are certain websites which you can make a profile and find people who are looking to flat share or house share in a certain area. I think one of them is
easyroommate.com. Just thought I would suggest it as someone I know used it to find herself a flat last year. I don't know if it will be any use to you or not  x

Hey Alicia, i'm in the same position, moving from Hull and looking for a flatshare. Ive been on easy roommate but there isnt much choice on there.

I'm thinking it will be easier to go over to warrington for a couple of days and spend time looking properly.

Hello Ladies

Apologies that I havent been on for a while but I have been moving house so havent had internet access - nightmare! Anyway I enjoyed my graduation ceremony yesterday it was such a lovely day and even better as I achieved a first in my degree which I am so made up about! All the hard work paid off.

Can anyone confirm that we will receive the same amount of training bursary as for primary trainees (£9000 for a first, £5000 for a 2:1 etc) as on the letter I got from Chester about this it didn't actually mention an early years course.

Hope everyone is well and looking forward to enjoying the summer before the hard work really starts!!!

love Vickey xx

Hi Vickey, Yes, we are entitled to the same bursary so you should get your 9,000. In your info and letters from chester you should have a training bursary form to fill in and send off and then I think we receive the payments in bank over 3 installments once we started course. Well done you!

Hi everyone, I'm Hannah and I'm also starting at Warrington in September :-)
I'm 26, married with a 5 month old baby boy! I was originally supposed to start last September but due to a honeymoon baby I deferred my place until this year!
I graduated in 2009 (from Chester) with a degree in early childhood studies and have spent the last 4 years working as an EYP in a private day nursery. I feel like I will be a little out of my comfort zone being back in a school as its been so long since I did placements etc :-/
I live in altrincham, so will be commuting every day (about 40 mins) and my little one will be going to the nursery on campus!
Looking forward to meeting everyone! Has anyone heard anymore about next Friday? Where we meet etc?
Xx

Hi everyone I went to the induction day and signing on Friday and have tried to register/sign up for the DBS update thing ... does anyone know what we have to select on the drop down when it asks us whether we are a volunteer or not? Are we classed as volunteers as we are not being paid? I have emailed the uni but not received a reply. thanks

Hi
I marked no to the volunteer question as the school placements are a compulsory requirement of the pgce course and not a.voluntary aspect. If i am wrong though please.let me know@

Oh no, I put volunteer! I just assumed that because we're not being paid then we would come under volunteer. Oh well, too late now!

I also marked no. The way they defined volunteering it didn't seem to fit with what we're doing but I could be wrong! If anyone finds out please let us know

You are meant to put no to the volunteer question. I accidently clicked yes at first and it didn't ask me for the £13 payment so I knew I had done something wrong.
Anyways I rang the DBS up and they said just cancel your subscription and then resubcribe using the same tracking number we were given on Friday. I did mine and payed for it whilst staying on the phone to them just to make sure everything was done right  x

Hi thanks for that. Yes I phoned them too today and have subscribed now. Also received another form today to complete and attach a photo to.. I can't believe the amount of paperwork we are having to complete! oh well each one a step closer x
Hey all, sorry not been on in a while! Had my graduation then went on holiday for 2 weeks! Soo wish I was still there and not working! Is anyone going to the residential thing? I sent my cheque this morning  x

Hi Ashley and all. I'm Nicky. Your name sounds familiar, were you at my interview in May. Could be mixing you up with someone else. Welcome to the forum. I have personally not used it much, but from recent posts you can see it has been very useful. I'm wondering has everyone started this voluntary assignment. I have. However, I'm finding it difficult to get back into writing academically, particularly as I graduated 2 years ago. We could always share tips on here if anybody wants to. Anyone had access to any journals/articles. The books recommended by email are quite good and there is also a good book called 'classroom Karma' which has bits in that are quite useful. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the summer before we get down to the hard slog. Enjoy your holiday Ashley and good luck with the skills tests, there not that bad. xx
Hi Nicky,

I have also started the voluntary essay but this was before I went on holiday so I haven't done anything for the past month. I graduated last month so I have lost all access to journals too :/ never mind, they take that into consideration anyway! What is everyone specialising in? Im specialising in English! I haven't looked at the books etc that they sent in the last email but I will soon! Any more newbies on the forum? Im soooo excited now I cant wait to get stuck in! xx

Hi all, suppose you're right Chloe, they do consider that many have no access to journals etc. I'm not stressing about this ass given that its voluntary and not marked. Hope everyone not too nervous about Sept, although I know its hard not to have anxieties, (I keep having strange dreams demonstrating my worries), but trying to stay calm and positive - it is just another tiny part of our lives that will be over before we know it, and sooooo worth it when we get our dream career. I know I've mentioned this before but if anyone in the Stockport area needing a lift there and back, i'm happy to take them (trying to cut petrol costs too - as its gonna cost me a fair bit on a weekly basis), back to being a poor student (not that I was particularly rich before).x

Hey guys,
has anyone received any information about the first day? I have no idea what time we are supposed to be there or where we have to go? X
