So you have the iron (II) compound dissolved. Then you add solid 2 = hydrated ethanedioic acid. Stir until partly dissolved.
What does hydrated mean? Why is it hydrated? Why only partly dissolved?
I can only answer your first question, but hydrated means that the ligands surrounding the Fe 2+ ions are water. Take hydrated copper sulphate as an example. [Cu(H2O)6]2+
It has 6 water molecules present when dissolved in water. However it doesn't neccessarily have to be dissolved, as long as those ligands are present it is known as hydrated.
