BBC Three Looking For Gaming and Technology Addicts

Hi,

My name's Sarah and I'm currently working on an observational documentary that is in development for BBC Three, that wants to address the subject of technology, gaming and internet addiction in young people today.

We're looking to hear from young adults who are in desperate need of help with their addiction to technology. Whether it's being unable to function without Twitter or Facebook; complete immersion in online and/or role-playing games that have stopped you from attending school or university and from functioning in the real world or a complete disassociation from friends and family because of an inability to disconnect.

You might have a roommate, best friend or family member that you're worried about, or you might simply want a helping hand yourself - we're interested in hearing from people from a variety of different backgrounds, with a variety of different levels of online addiction. The documentary will take addicts on a journey of rehabilitation with a top US clinic, and follow their progress as a group as they undergo specialist therapy to help them overcome their problems.

If you are interested in finding out more about our documentary, please email [email protected] for more information.

Many thanks,

It is worth adding that in this first instance what we would like to do is speak with addicts on the phone, before meeting with them and filming them at home, at work etc talking about their addiction, the underlying issues behind it, and also their treatment.

This would just be for a taster tape, which we would then show to the commissioner in order to convince him to allow us to make a full series. The filming being carried out at this initial stage would NOT be shown on television.

Thanks,

Crackit.
