The youth team is ****

Cash reserves are the hard work of Ivan gazidis

Right.

4th place what an achievement with some of the teams he's had

7 points off the top with the injuries we've had and an FA Cup - not too shabby.

One half good season makes up for 10 years of failure?

Brendan Rodgers is basically the blueprint for how to succeed

The youth team are towards the bottom of most the youth league tables
Chelsea are a team to look up to in youth development a great youth setup

Our youth team is absolutely rubbish. Since cohort that won the 2009 youth cup (who were all quickly dispersed), no one has shown near the ability to be a squad player apart from man like Chuba.

Wouldn't really call making youth players teenage millionaire a model to follow but they have a brilliant set up.

You spent more than £100m last summer and then have already spent £60m on two world class signings this year.

Your whole 'Chelsea are not ready' agenda is bull****. Mourinho should have been sacked based on last season and Roman's past record.

We've spent 60M but also got rid of a 50M pound asset.

I don't have an agenda. I just don't believe we have what it takes to win the title. We should have got a striker and 2 CMs last season to win the title, we didn't, now City have that impetus and Liverpool are back again. I'll be happy with 2nd place next season and a trophy. Potentially CL I guess.

You must be joking, they have one of the very worst youth development records in English football going all the way back to the 1980s. Absolutely no tradition for it, and gathering a load of expensive youngsters based on scout reports from all over the world does not translate into developing players.

Why do they even bother having an academy? Trying to create the façade of a non-plastic club no doubt.

The youth system is a strange one, yes we have some exceptional individual talent but as a collective we are pretty bad. Our U21s finished 14th out of 22 and our U18s got relegated!

The cash reserves is more Gazidis than AW. Gazidis is the one in meetings with Emirates and Puma seeing if they are mug enough to give us a lot if money. The money that Arsebe brings in is from selling out best players.

7 points a ridiculous amount of goals short. We need a proper goalscorer. As for the FA Cup, do you think we would have reached the final had City beaten Wigan? Probably not, once that happened the draw opened up and Hull **** themselves!

Ffs why are people even responding to Butty it's obvious he's a neck beard opportunist and doesn't actually give a **** which youth system is better

It is being reported as 40m in most places, no? And in any cases, he wasn't used by you properly last year, which is only a slight on Mourinho's management abilities. That 40-50m of deadweight has been replaced by 60m+ of Mourinho players.

No, the reserves are Arsene's doing. The net spend of teams around us in the PL is at least £150m higher than ours over the past 8 years...and guess what our cash reserves are?

People must remember as well that if we blew £100m Spurs style this summer, there would be no more £100m windows. We'd be talking £50m tops budgets for here on in.

Say what you like about AW, but he has an unbelievable talent for spotting and then developing underpriced talent and selling players for above market worth.

The only noticeable player from their youth system would be JT. Mighty McEachran is off in the wilderness and Bertrand ended the season on loan at Villa. Some youth set up they got there!!

Have you read about Loftus-Cheek? He's younger than the majority of us in here and will have earned nearly £2m before he's 20. He's in their reserves ffs, that is just ridiculous.

Being reported as 50M in other places. Telegraph and Guardian both say 50M.

He was used properly by us, he played in midfield when fit after christmas and was the backup CB. Mourinho used him pretty well imo. Nice dig though.

It's been replaced by Mourinho players but net profit is 10 or so million and he was a prized asset.

A few certainly wont make it. Miyachi, Afobe, Eisfeld come to mind. All 21 and not at the levels they should be atm.

Fran Merida, Jay Emmanuel Thomas, Henri Lansbury, Jay Simpson, Sanchez Watt, where are they now!?! Remember how they were going to be quality and we'd have a team of all academy players?! Lol

Posted from TSR Mobile
In our current side we have Wilshere, Gibbs, Szczesny all from the academy and over the past 10 years we've had a steady flow of decent midtable quality players who've we've sold on for a decent amount too. Bit further back we had Ashley Cole and Clichy as well. That's superior to Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, City and Spurs.

Thats not to say that we cant do better of course. End of the day, if you can get a Cole or a Wilshere through every 5 years then you're doing well.

At that age they really should be a lot closer to the first team then they are.

Bellerin, Crowley, Hayden, Toral and Akpom are the ones we should be focusing on.
