Retaking a U grade AS subject for a second time

I failed most of my AS subjects last year and have just finished retaking the entire year again minus one subject and with another subject changed to something else.
Last year I took Maths, Biology, Psychology and Art. I failed Maths last year and dropped it (had to really) this year to lessen the stress. I very much enjoy maths and am motivated to work hard however I don't think I worked hard enough last year.
I was wondering whether it may be possible for me to retake a completely failed subject (maths) again next year as an AS level whilst I do my A2 for the subjects I retook this year?
(A friend told me that any subject you get a U in, you are not allowed to retake again. Is this true?)

There is nothing to prevent you taking maths exams again.
Whether your college will allow you to attend classes or enter for the exams privately if you don't attend classes is up to them.
