DMU breaking UK Laws with their Accomodation Terms and Conditions

It seems to me there are many unfair terms in DMUS accomodation contracts.

Students being treated like children, rights trampled on whilst charged a fortune for a room.

Does anyone have any experience of them enforcing their Terms eg no having an amplifier in your room, posters etc ...

Anyone taken them to court.

How do they enforce terms .. regular inspections .. stereo nazis ?
How exactly are they breaking the law and trampling on your rights?
It is THEIR accomodation so they are more than free to say you can't have posters or electrical equipment etc in the rooms. Infact the bit about posters is VERY common in rental accommodation in general, let alone just uni halls.

So they're breaking your human right...to hang a poster?

No amplifiers means that your neighbour who goes to sleep at 11 won't hear your pounding music at 3 AM, nor will you be annoying everyone else in halls - you're generally not allowed to be a nuisance. Posters can damage walls when they're removed. Those sorts of terms (and far stricter ones) are common for pretty much every tenancy, so you'll be faced with them again when you rent privately, as a student or not.

You'll probably have an inspection once or twice a term, and they'll warn/fine you if you're breaking the rules, or if they receive complaints about you. If you're being dangerous they could chuck you out.
