Very interesting and helpful blog as usual!

Had my interview for LD nursing last week. Started so well, nearly top marks in the maths and English tests but when it came to the interview my nerves got the better of me! I could of given much better answers and really didn't show my passion at all. Was a really good day other than that, met a lovely group of people and loved the course/uni. Just hoping for the best, preparing for the worst atm.

I cried in my interview I felt like you got top marks in maths and english but thought my interview could of gone better but it went well. I start in 12 weeks and I can't wait ! Good luck
Hi Guys wonder if you could help me?

I have sent my application off for Children's Nursing for Edge Hill, JMU and Chester. I have an interview for all 3 choices, already had my interview for Edge Hill yesterday but don't think I will get a place because I didn't finish my Maths paper. I am now worried that I won't get any offers because of the maths and because Children's nursing is so competitive.

I am no considering applying for Learning Disabilities Nursing at Edge Hill, as I am equally as interested in this career as I as I am with Children's.

My concern is when to do this because universities don't look upon this that highly and I also the first sentence of personal statement is 'Children's Nursing has been a career I have wanted to pursue for as long as I can remember'. Are they going to knock be back straight away even though the first paragraph of my personal statement talks about me working one to one with a little girl with server autism.

Thanks Becky

Hi hun I start at Edge hill this april for LD nursing I went through clearing last August. Had an interview in september had to do the maths and english paper and an interview.
My ps was centered around adult nursing because thats what i applied for but I did put about lD into it as I work with adults with learning difficulties. Im so glad I choose this field and I know of one other girl that had a U for children's and she starts with me in April.
Good luck whatever you decide to do x

Arr that's really helped me. My plan was to try for children's because that is the most competitive and then failing that I would go through clearing for LD as I'm aware there are often places available. But think you have possibly given me the confidence to maybe apply earlier and see how it goes. When you went through clearing did you have to change your personal statement? Did hour personal statement have a similar first sentence to me or did you not mention anything about Adult nursing?

Thanks Becky xx

I had to change my ps a little bit they will let you know. I think you have to wait for a yes or no from your 3 choice's then you get a clearing number if it's a U it open's in August.
Edge hill were lovely and I knew I had a place within 3 weeks of applying through clearing.
children's is so competative but you never know your interview may have gone well ! If you want any info hun just ask

Hey Hun. You already working with a girl with autism so that will definetly be a positive when you have your LD interview. Wait and see what the uni says, you never know they may call you back even if you didn't finish the maths test, you may have scored higher in other areas of the interview process. I start LD nursing in Sept. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you all the best :-)

Yes, I have also worked in a nursery which has placements for SEN children and I have worked with 2 other children with server autism. Yes I am going to wait until I have had all three uni's and wait until I have had a response off Edge Hill. Aww that great LD Nursing really does interest me.

Thanks Everyone really appreciate your help xx
Is there anyone on here who has already started LD nursing ? I start in 8 weeks and I was wondering how often on placement do you wear the student uniform ? Just so I know if I need to buy and shirts and black pants ect ??? Thank you

Hey! This would depend on your university and course structure. It will also be dependent on where you are on placement. In the community you may not need to wear your uniform. Try and find people on your course at university already who may be able to help more!
Sorry i cant help more. I am on placement every 6 weeks for 6 weeks and i ring up placement to see where i am and if i need to wear uniform etc.

Read it before hun and had a look at the links you put up. Love reading it thanks can't wait to get started now
I've had a rejection off Edge Hill for children's nursing. Still haven't heard off the other two but seriously considering this as an option now. Going to read your blog as I am sure this is will help with decision of what to do and if I will enjoy it or not. Also going to try and gain some further experience especially with adults who suffer Learning Disabilities.

Thanks Becky xx

Aww thanks everyone for your support. Hey Sally when is the open evening and is it just for LD nursing students? Don't finish my Access Course until June so would be looking to start next April 2016. Hoping their will be places available when clearance opens. Extra has opened but I'm still waiting to hear off two other uni's so can't apply for LD on that at the mo. Do you guys know when Extra is open until?

Will deffo give it a read now and will be in touch if I have any questions. Yes I would like to specialise in children once qualified but just worried they wouldn't take me at the minute because I have only got experience with children who suffer from LD. Worried that working with adults with server LD's may be a bit intense also, so want to experience it first before I make a decision.

Really appreciate all your kind words and help xx
