IGCSE English Language

Hi,
I moved to a new school last month which only offers an IGCSE in English Language - for some reason, this school doesn't offer the GCSE qualification, though it doesn't affect my other subjects.

All I know is that coursework is more relaxed in an IGCSE (no more horrendous two hour long controlled assessments - yay!). Could anyone explain to me what the IGCSE course is like? I'm studying the AQA one.

Some articles on the internet have suggested that IGCSEs are pretty hard, but the English work has so far been a breeze. Do you reckon that it could be difficult to be obtain an A*?
