English- Prose Commentaries

Hello,
I am currently writing a commentary on an extract from 'To Kill a Mockingbird'.
I am just curious to know if anyone has any good tips on how to approach commentaries. I take HL English and am aiming for a Level 7 in these. I am especially curious to know what to include in introductions, as these are my weak points.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Introductions are primarily written to state what you will be expanding on later in the essay - effectively introducing your argument. Hint at the conclusion as well.

use of A imagery in B

*A* imagery is a key literary feature used by *author C* in *Piece B*. The author uses the motif of *A* as a way to highlight key changes in the passage, most notably when *situation D*. The imagery is used to direct the readers reaction to events and create suspense when needed.
