Introductions are primarily written to state what you will be expanding on later in the essay - effectively introducing your argument. Hint at the conclusion as well.

use of A imagery in B

*A* imagery is a key literary feature used by *author C* in *Piece B*. The author uses the motif of *A* as a way to highlight key changes in the passage, most notably when *situation D*. The imagery is used to direct the readers reaction to events and create suspense when needed.

Something like that structure whereby you:

1.

Make a general statement (including author's name and prose name in it)

2.

Expand on the general point (may help to use direct example)

3.

Briefly describe the effect on the reader (if any).
