Argh, my sensible mode never switches on in Chat, but as you raise a serious point...

Whilst I sympathise and disagree with the extent of the cuts, a lot of the people on the list seem to have suffered a history of mental health problems prior to the change in their benefits. It's obvious that a harder regime contributed to their already fragile mental state and feelings of despair, and this needs to be looked at urgently because the government shouldn't make its people unhappier in general, but I don't think the factual causation is there to say that the DWP is directly responsible.

Lacking compassion and human empathy? Yes. Responsible for the deaths? That's a stretch in my opinion.
