Hello! I have a really strong feeling the 30 markers could be Privy Council 36-58 and threats to Elizabeth?
40 markers have a pattern and this year should he Edward VI?

Yeah it seems like no one is doing this course!!!! I watched lots of David Starkey videos when I made my revision PowerPoints!!! He's amazing.... Also I've found just going on examiners reports can be so helpful and tell you things you may not have thought of?

Hasnt privy council come up in 2012? I believe that a question on how royal supermacy was strengthened will come up and possibly marys foreign policy and elizabeths latter years

Mary increased the council to 43 members from 33 in the reign of Edward VI..... They were quite ineffective as a group and Mary preffered to consult with Renard (spanish ambassador) rather than her council.... She did make and inner committe which was successful as they dealt with specialist issues such as taxation collection

what would you write for Privy council under Mary??
what would you write for Privy council under Mary??
- how she expanded the privy council to 43 (ineffective, but trusted)
- counter reformation needed privy council/parliamentary support & how she couldn't get monasteries restored
- privy council + gardiners objection to a marriage with Philip + it led to rebellion
- reluctantly privy council sent 7000 soldiers to France & lost Calais
- militia/arms acts, ship rebuilding/repair
- Philip promised Calais return in cateau-cambresis (good for mary!)
In conc she pursued many policies without the full support of the privy council -> led to division and mistakes: unpopular marriage, loss of calais and not a full counter-reformation. BUT militia & arms acts and ship building/repair programmes funded by privy council were useful but more so in Elizabeth's reign.

Privy council - Henry, Edward, Mary, LJG
Rising parliamentary role
Rising royal power
Relationship between crown + church/crown+ nobility
Is that right? And how would you section off the Elizabethan threat, would you just talk about foreign policy?

Hello all,
Do you all feel strongly that a question on Mary will come up?

I think it's quite likely as she has yet to have a question centred around her yet

Are you sure? Bc an Anglo-Spanish q came up on just Mary in 2011 & last year there was a q on Edward and Mary religion. I'm hoping its privy council 36-58 bc if it was just on Mary I don't think I'd have enough to write at all
