not a good idea for example argentina linked its currency the peso to the dollar. so as the value of the dollar rose so did the peso. there was a huge appreciaetd in the peso abt 15% within 3 years, which in turn reduced competitiveness for argentina in world trade, as imports became cheaper and their exports became more expensive to other countries.. leading to a balance of payments defecit
