Pork analysis help

I'm just starting Year 11 and English is one of my poorer subjects. I want to get into medical school and so I will need at least an A in both English exams. One thing I'm really struggling with is poem analysis, I barely understand the poems we look at, let alone analyse them, I am never able to think of ideas myself and I would really like some help as I am extremely nervous about it right now.

2 things that might help

1. Watch videos/audios of the poem being read with expression, think about the dialect the poet may have used.
2. Do as above after smoking some weed and make use of the deep thoughts and altered brain waves (dont forget to make notes.)
