Why does everyone keep wanting LGBT rights?

It's incredibly out of the ordinary to want rights for LGBT.

Lettuce, gherkins, bacon and tomatoes might make up a good sandwich but that's all it is; It's a sandwich, something you eat. Why are people trying to give a sandwich rights?

And why these ingredients!? You don't see anyone trying to get rights for cheese, sausage, burger, bread, ketchup, brown sauce, jam, ham, mustard or any other ones. What makes lettuce, gherkins, bacon and tomatoes so special!?
