life as a geography student?

What's it like being a first year geography undergraduate? All my friends in uni do medicine etc so I've no real idea. How do you spend your time - what's a typical week like, in terms of hours working?

Also, is it very different to A level geography? What's the jump like?
I'm about to start my placement year (3rd year) and I can say that they make sure you settle in well. I haven't done A-Level Geography but I've been able to cope quite well.
1st year really is the easiest year of the entire degree. None of your assignments count towards anything, so the most important part is that you get at least a pass in your exams and coursework (a pass is 40% but really you want to get higher than that - try to aim for 60 which is a 2:1 but anything in the 50-59 range is ok too)
The hours really depend on the university, I'm at the university of Hertfordshire and it's more or less 4 hours a day, with Wednesdays off. There's the occassional 9am start but luckily there's not many of them.
