Hi, I know some of you have mentioned MMI's, I have been invited for interview in less than 2 weeks & it's MMI style, last year I had a traditional face to face interview which went TERRIBLY! I cried & replied "I don't know" for one of the questions, so to say I'm nervous about these MMI's would be an understatement. Could anyone tell me what I should expect, or how I could prepare? :/ :/ Nerves always get the better of me

Don't panick that's the main thing. The people really are lovely at UoM. I had an mmi at Teesside and I panicked there didn't answer one question and still managed to get past the initial NO as the let people who aren't suitable no with in 2 weeks.
Anyways for UoM I managed to stay calm and just went in thinking I'll do my best and it went really well! Think about why you want to be a nurse and why you want to go to manchester aswell

Hey
No I live in County Durham so will be moving there. I've put my accommodation application in. What about you? X

I will be staying in accommodation too but think it will be private rather than through the University!
A bit torn at the moment though as I've just had an offer from Uni of Nottingham.

How was Nottingham? I'm so looking forward to manchester I lived not far from manchester for a long time so know the city pretty well and I miss it a lot so it's going to be good! I have looked at some private accommodation tonight but it seems so much more expensive??

I think Manchester is an amazing city too!
It is more expensive but I want to make sure I'm happy where I'm living (I'm going to use some savings to subsidise my loan)
I'm going to go to both cities for the day to try and make a decision!
Are you on the Manchester Facebook group?

I need to find a little care home to work in when I'm off lol

I'm sure you'll get it applying early!
I know, going to be so strange living on the loans. Will all be worth it in the end.
Sure it'll be easy to find bank work somewhere to get extra money!

I worked out last night if have the higher rate maintenance loan and grant from the uni, once taken off the rent payment id have around £90 a week to live off (roughly)
Which actually surprised me lol that's not so bad
And yes I'm hoping I can find a bank job just for some extra cash to spend on socialising etc
hello I am new here..I am a mature student, currently on the first of its kind here in Dundee, fast track access to nursing, there is a lot of people going for the H.N.C care and administrative practices,my concern is that as I lack qualifications,I will not get in,I do have lots of experience within the care sector, but would like advice in what would be the next best step,in my journey to studying nursing at uni..???I also have group assessment for H.N.C in two weeks, any advice ??

I'm in the same boat. I applied for and have been granted the higher maxmimum amount in maintenance fees. Going for a 47 week let as I'm doing nursing. Rent is quite a lot each week but needs must - second year will be cheaper when I can organise private accommodation with people I know. I'll have about 80 quid a week spare after rent so I can use that on food and other bits. Going to try working part time too when I can!

Hey yes that's my plan too

It is a lot of money to pay out mines on a 50 week I think...but it'll be worth it for my own space. Also doing adult nursing so long shifts when placements start and I need to get my sleep or I can't function lol I'm not 18 anymore haha I like a night out NOW AND AGAIN can't cope with noise every day/night!

Hey, Wow congrats, I firmed my only offer my first choice, London South Bank University :colondollar: and I'll be living at home and commuting every day, good thing about my university is that my placement hospitals are 1 out of 4 which are not too far to get to, I just hope I get the trust near my house lol, We can choose the placement trust but not everyone gets the trust they want that's the thing, I hope its fairly distributed. I have family responsibilities so can't live on campus and I'll hopefully have a bit more money to use on the necessities too, just hope I don't have too much of a commute that's all, especially as I can't see parking anywhere, I'll have to rely on public transport which is constantly busy, not to mention disrupted buses and train services lol  Are you gonna go to your interview at Sheffield Hallam or withdraw and accept Nottingham?

Thank you! Super excited 😍.
Ahh that sounds great, sure your commute won't be too bad. Fingers crossed for you!

I'm not going to go to the interview, I've emailed to cancel as I don't want to go there so no point really! Think I'm going to, just leaving it a few days before I firm in case I decide Manchester 👌🏻

I'm excited x 1000!! I'm just shocked I think as I genuinely didn't think I'd get in anywhere so to get in to two is amazing 😀. I can get a £2000 a year bursary at Nottingham though on top of the loan so realistically that would be better financially!
