English/Film Studies joint honours

hey everyone,
i'm currently studying at as level, at a grammar school, which has already put us under a load of pressure to start thinking about university options. i've been thinking about it, and i suppose the option which seems best for me is doing a joint honours in english and film studies. english has always been one of my strongest subjects, as well as a subject i've always enjoyed, whereas film is my passion and something i hope to pursue a career in, as a director or screenwriter. i know making it in the film industry is almost impossible, which is why i want to do a joint honours, and as a backup option i would consider teaching or journalism. however, i'm really not sure about it - it seems like an ideal course for me, but i go to a grammar school, where we're under pressure to become lawyers or doctors, and i'm very worried about what the staff will think of this. additionally, i don't know how this would look on a cv, or if i'd be able to get one of my backup jobs. help??
