Which course do i pick?

Okey so as showed in the title...I need help!
im currently torn between a couple choices. they all came in very quickly aswell.

Ok so I have been accepted at:
Manchester Met Uni - Tesol and Linguistics
Birmingham Uni - english lang and Linguistics
University of Sussex - english lang and Linguistics (with tesol)
UCLan - Tesol and Korean
Swansea University - english lang with Tesol.

I really want to teach english abroad, So besically TESOL. I really like Korean and Linguistics too tho. Now my dilemma is...which one. I know Birmingham is very high ranked which is nice and its close to home too but it doesnt do TESOL which is what i want to specialise in. I like the TESOL and Korean course but im not too sure about the uni ngl. I like the one in Sussex the most but the campus again is just a little dirty from what ive seen and the one in Manchester seems great but a lot of students have complained about Manchester Met before which is a hold back. Swansea seems grest but it doesnt do Linguistics and its very far from home. Im also worried about part time jobs there...

I so far have mostly leaned on Birmingham, Sussex and UCLan.
Again i really want to do Korean, Tesol and Linguistics but seems like i need to choose which subject I have to drop now. It also seems like international most people would prefer an english language and Linguistics degree, but you need Tesol too or some Tesol certificate.

So what so i do??

Plz help.

I don't think that I can add much to the above, but have you considered doing the TESOL certification outside of uni? I get that it can cost a bit (£1500-1000, depending on where you get it), but I think this would make things easier.

Also, if you intend to take a qualification in Korean, then I would recommend looking into TOPIK as opposed to doing it in your degree. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_European_Framework_of_Reference_for_Languages#Language-specific_scales
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Test_of_Proficiency_in_Korean

There is also absolutely nothing wrong with doing the Language for All courses in Korean after uni or during uni separate to your degree e.g.
https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/languages-for-all/choose-language/korean
https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/schools/plymouth-business-school/modern-language-opportunities/korean
https://www.langcen.cam.ac.uk/culp/korean/culp-korean.html
https://www.alc.manchester.ac.uk/study/university-language-centre-leap-courses/course-information/leap-courses/courses-for-all/korean/
https://www.soas.ac.uk/korean-language-courses
https://www.imperial.ac.uk/evening-classes/october-courses-list/korean/
https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/languages/open-languages/extracurricular/koreancourses/
https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/arts/languagecentre/lifelonglearning/korean/
https://www.uclan.ac.uk/cpd/courses/applied-languages-cert
Granted, a lot of these courses don't go beyond GCSE level (A2 in the CEFR framework), but they are probably a better soruce to study languages than say a random course that you can find online

The other possible idea is to spend a few months in South Korea (probably not a good idea to go to North Korea to learn the language) to learn the language. This can be pricey though.
Hi those are some really great universities and it can be a really tough decision. SOAS also have a great Korean and Linguistics programme that's worth looking in to. They also offer the chance to study abroad and the Korean department is amazing. The SOAS campus is also a very friendly and welcoming space. Here's more information about the course if you're interested https://www.soas.ac.uk/study/find-course/ba-korean-and

Hi @lineyaput,

How are you? Congratulations on receiving offers from multiple universities and it's great to see that you are interested in our BA (Hons) (TESOL) with Modern Language course.

This course does offer students the opportunity to spend a period abroad in Year 3 to develop language skills, cultural awareness and their network. Prior to going on the year abroad, UCLan students do receive guidance from staff and attend multiple experience talks from students who returned from their year abroad to give them a better understanding of what to expect.

One of our current students Andrea has shared her experience of studying TESOL with Korean which you may find helpful 👇

If you have any questions about the course or life here at UCLan I'd be happy to help. 😊

Best wishes,
Sarah
