Read about international issues that interest you in the news.
Look for blogs and documentaries that dig into the details.
Look at university websites to find out what subjects and options they offer.
Do some reading into those topics to get an idea of which you are most looking forward to.
Look into the staff teaching at different universities and what they are researching.
Watch online lectures and take free online courses (MOOCs on futurelearn and edx).
