University admissions

Hi all, I have a question
I’m currently about to do my gcses and I’ve been considering a level options for a while. Primarily I chose chemistry, biology german and English literature but I’m having second thoughts on English literature. I want to do medicine at university, and it’s a big dream but I’d like to get into oxford. I’m not sure if it would be better to take physics rather than literature? They both interest me the same, I’m just rather put off taking physics as many say it’s a very difficult subject.

It doesn't matter which one you take for GCSE, Oxford don't have specific requirements in terms of your subjects, but taking Physics will prepare you better for taking the BMAT because it has GCSE-level science questions.

Actually physics correlates slightly negatively with getting an interview at Oxford. Probably because people who take physics tend not to also take maths, which does correlate with a significantly better result.

The most important thing OP is that you get the grades you need - at least A*AA for Oxford.

GCSE or A-level? I thought OP was still talking about GCSEs which led to my response :P

Oh you did write GCSE in hindsight.

OP did say they are talking about A-levels though.
