This is a great question as it often will vary between universities and students/lecturers can give you more detailed insight into what you'll be learning.
•
Student ambassadors from your course will be on hand to answer honestly about their experience, so make sure to hear what they have to say about the course and why they enjoy it.
•
Lecturers and other staff members can give you more insight into how the course is taught, structured, and assessed, as well as being knowledgeable in our great facilities and where you'll be learning.

What is the city like?
One of the main reasons I chose Plymouth was because of its great city! I always say there is the perfect mix of city-life (with all the student shops, restaurants, and venues you'd need just minutes away) and nature (with the National Marine Park and Dartmoor right on Plymouth's doorstep)! Everything I ever need is within walking distance and it's a very accessible city overall with a vibrant night-life and student-friendly atmosphere.
•
Which halls did you stay in?
I stayed in Francis Drake for my first year of university in a 6-bed flat with a shared kitchen and en-suite room.
•
Which is the ‘best’ halls to live in?
Across the halls on campus/in the student village there are plenty of options to suit all budgets and preferences (such as smaller/bigger flats, single sex flats, no drinking flats, en-suites/shared bathrooms etc.) There isn’t necessarily a best option as everyone prefers different factors!
•
Did you enjoy halls?
Yes! I met some great people living in halls of residence and it was an easy, affordable option for accommodation during my first year of study. Halls might not be for everyone, but I would highly recommend it for your first year to meet new people (who you might be friends with for life!), have peace of mind (with all bills included and a reception/maintenance team) on Plymouth’s secure campus/student village (with 24/7 security).
•
What’s the location like?
The best it could be! Situated at the heart of campus are two halls, whilst the others are just 2 minutes across one road. The location makes it easy to get to lectures, access shops, or anywhere across the city as the campus is at its centre!
•
What was the ResLife program like?
One of the best parts of living in halls! Completely included in your accommodation, ResLife is an amazing program offering many perks including free trips (such as the zoo, pottery painting, escape rooms, and more!), free food vans, giveaways, competitions, and other bonuses! I loved this part of halls as it was a great way to meet new people, explore the city and wider area, and an excuse to have some great trips free of charge!
•
I have more questions… Who can I ask?
I am always on TSR to help out with any general questions you might have, so feel free to reach out! Our accommodation team can be reached at [email protected] whilst we have lots of students on our Unibuddy page who have stayed in different halls and would be able to give you their perspective!
Where are they based?
