MSc in Economics after working for 2-3 years?

Title says it all. I recently graduated with a BSc in Economics (first-class honours). I intend to work in management consultancy for a few years before going back to study a masters in Economics to then pursue a more economic-oriented career. I wanted to get some experience working full time but also to get some money together.

Is this unusual? I feel like I will be too old to go back to university (24 or so)? I'd love to hear from anyone who has done something similar (not necessarily economics).
I can’t relate however I’ve had teachers from college head back to complete their masters in another field despite their age, it doesn’t seem uncommon

Most people going into masters have experience in their chosen field, and go back to further studies in order to advance to managerial positions or to change field or specialise.

If that is something you want to do after a few years of working, then you can absolutely do that.

It is not uncommon for those in management consultancy to get an MBA after a few years of working.
