Short Film EPQ Help

I want to do a short film for my EPQ artefact but I'm not recieving much help at school as my teacher is a moron and seems set on us all doing a question title and 5K word dissertation (which I'd rather not do). To anyone who has done a short film for EPQ, what research did you do? What was your film about and what was your report about? I don't really know where to start with this as I have been told it has to be research based, but have seen A/A* examples that lacked much research. Thanks.

I did a super short animation for my EPQ. You gotta research target audience, genre, stuff like that. Making a short film you gotta write a script, create a storyboard, you gotta look into programs and equipment, all that kinda stuff you can do research on. I found a pdf on storyboarding from a Disney storyboarder that I used as research.
