Othello A Level Question Help

“The society for which Shakespeare was writing knew only too well that power implies the ability to make victims of individuals.”

Discuss the extent to which you consider this to be the case in Othello using as you starting point Iago’s soliloquy “Thus do I ever make my fool my purse” at the end of Act 1 scene 3.

Ok so we have an essay due soon on that question and I honestly have no idea what it means, has anyone got any tips for it??
