John Green tried his books a few times but nope

I don't have many authors I don't like, but so far I'm not a fan of Donna Tartt. I was so excited to read The Goldfinch and I'd heard and read everywhere that the book was amazing. Honestly probably one of the most boring books I've read. You don't feel any sympathy or connection to the protagonist and the story itself was dull, dreary and depressing. I had a feeling it was done on purpose as a metaphor for the protagonist's life and if that is the case, then I take everything back and it's very clever. If not, it was a very disappointing read.
