You had me until here

:colondollar:

No trolling, being totally serious. This must be how it feels like having a midfield with Elliot and Carvalho

Also we bought Fofana.

Yea yea....well

Quoted 3 years ago so sometime in the 19/20 season.

We won the CL the next year and Liverpool came third while Chelsea came 4th so almost as if I was right at the time. Majority of stuff I say here come to fruition some stuff I miss but this was pretty spot on.

Now when I say we are in trouble I mean we are in trouble.

Cazorla was a significangtly better player than Jorginho
Rosicky was at a similar level

But I agree we looking Gucci

Balogun
Trossard ESR Pepe (lol)
Jorginho Havertz
Tierney Timbers Kiwior Tomiasu
Turner

That right there is a backup XI that cost c.£250m you know. Wenger used to put his first teams out on a combined expenditure of maybe £70m.

Chelsea are in for an interesting season no doubt. My instinct is that you wont get top 4 tbh. But you havent signed anyone yet so anything could happen.

If you got Caicedo then you have the basis of a good team tbh. Alternatively you might have headless chicken Gallagher consolidating Chelsea as a lower midtable side.

Your team there is probably at the level of Fulham, and tbh Pepe and trossard is good depth on the wings, in a settled team Pepe can do a good job, the issue is that arsenal were not settled, their midfield wasn't as good and they had no Saliba.

Cazorla and rosicky were good, but I was referring to injuries. I remember rosicky's goal Vs spurs.

We're in for a rough ride. What happens when we play Enzo to the ground and he's out for two months, look at your decline when partey got injured, our midfield is relegation level if you take out either one of Enzo or caicedo (if we get him)

I think we'll come 8th, we are the new Arsenal.

Lol our defender who was meant to be first choice just got an ACL injury and we have one midfielder.

We're getting 8th at best

Be more optimistic - we're looking pretty good in preseason so far!

We played Wrexham

If it's Nkunku, Enzo and Caicedo in that midfield, there's a glimmer of light

Two injuries away from using Gallagher and Santos for the season. But would be a nice first choice midfield.

I've been impressed with Santos from what I've seen but that's not enough. But give him 2/3 years and he develops into a star player.

I can't keep up with all the Chelsea signings or squad changes..

Lesley Ugochukwu (19) on a 7 year deal for £25mil from Rennes.

Chelsea are poised to buy the defender Axel Disasi from Monaco for €45m and are interested in the Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise.
Chelsea also exploring an offer to take Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus as part of a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku.
And the ongoing chase for Caicedo.

It still just feels like a huge mess at Chelsea, it’s fine trying to do something different with long contracts, overpaying and targeting young players but there just doesn’t seem to be a single thought of who will fit together and make a half decent collection.

Reply 1989

Yeah situation looks pretty bad and we're just asking poch to sort it out.

Maybe we're attempting to do what real Madrid did in buying young talents from south America/Europe who can play for 10+ yewrs and getting cheaper older signings. But it's way more scattergun than buying vinicius rodrygo and endrick.

I know it’s a bit reductive but for the prices being paid I would’ve expected to have heard of some of these players but I just haven’t, which would concern me!

It's very concerning but it's whatever.

You do wonder if Chelsea negotiate at all on the prices? Or they just ask and then pay what the clubs are asking for.

I'm sure there is a Football Manager version where all these players have good stats over the years

I should probably sim a chelsea save buy these players and I'll get back to you.

Reply 1994

Yeah Chelsea are just running a Football Manager sim arent they

Tbf it could be genius and work out ludicrously well, or it could be a disaster. Like in 2003 FM when I signed Xabi Alonso, De Jong, Torres, Stekelenburg, Wesley Sneijder for QPR and went on a #madness.

Overall, I think Chelsea get 70 points which should be 4th/5th. Pre season form is very good and youll be solid enough. Just a matter of getting into a rythm with these new players. You would expect at least one to be a worldie but even a broken clock is right twice a day I guess.

Reply 1995

Hard to see them competing until they buy a couple of midfielders..

Doubt we're getting anywhere above 6th tbh.

This.
I think if we can get Caicedo and Tyler Adams we can make top 4.
Otherwise no chance. Santos does look good but not sure if throwing him into the limelight gw1 is the right thing to do.

He's basically Romeu with a bit more bite to him.

I reckon you'll struggle to stay in top 4 but you'll be a problem for all of the big teams this year. Think Poch will stop you from being push overs but obvious squad issues that'll affect your season

Reply 1999

What a calamity. We’ve ****ed around and been pipped to Caicedo by Liverpool. How many months were we negotiating?? If we were always willing to go up to £100 million then why didn’t we just do it?? He was supposed to be our marquee summer signing. Yes, you can say you don’t wanna be fleeced and just fold at the start of negotiations but sometimes that’s necessary. Arsenal did it with Rice and paid up right at the start and didn’t give any other clubs a chance to come in and create a bidding war. Disappointing.

£110million is a lot of money so I understand if we didn’t want to go up to that much but all this could’ve been prevented by us just paying earlier on in the window. Marina would never
