University of Sheffield Applicants Megathread for 2021 entry

Oh yeah hi, I didn’t clock you’re username! No I wasn’t planning to change. I think I got my days mixed up when I posted here, I had acc been talking the uni a few days ago to check how the process worked before I planted my flag in the windgather flat. Are you thinking of changing- I saw we have a new flat mate which is exciting but they’re anon... mysterious

any accommodation recommendations for a medic?
I want to go out and socialise but also need to be able to sleep and work.
thinking about just going for Ranmoor as its more likely less rowdy but worried it might be too dead.
do people know which Endcliffe blocks are less noisy or are they all essentially the same/up to chance?

& are other medics facing the same problem + what are your thoughts?

Its hard to chose accommodation without knowing much about any of the blocks

I’m also starting medicine at Sheffield in September

I chose Crewe Flats for my accommodation.. its supposably on Endcliffe but in reality its about a 5 minute walk to the main Endcliffe site. Apparently it’s pretty social (potentialyl more than Ranmore) but much less noisy as its kind of surrounded by a garden/tennis court thing from what i understand.

I was thinking the exact same thing as you though, wanting to socialise but not wanting to have to sacrifice sleep/study time for it.. I think its normal!

Any Pre-settled EU student asked to fill out a fee questionnaire?

No I’m going to stay in the flat I’m doing medicine too so it’s good to have another medic! I still need to accept the offer and then I can see who else is in the flat. That’s exciting that there is somebody else but the anonymous ones are very mysterious haha

hi, just wanted to let you know that I acc ended up changing flats because 3/8 medics felt like a lot and I'm keen to make non medic friends. but looking forward to meeting you in September!

hey, sorry to ask this again but I’ve now accepted the accommodation offer and still can’t see who else is in the same flat. Do I have to pay the deposit first and then I will see? I have no clue what I’m doing wrong haha

Have you selected your room yet? Maybe you can’t see who is in the flat yet because nobody is yet.

Yes I’ve selected the room and I know that there are other people in the flat but I can’t see anything about the other rooms in the flat. When I log in it takes me to pay the deposit and I can’t go back to any of the other pages. I’m so confused haha

Have you got an unconditional offer? If so, then yes, you will have to pay the deposit before you can access any further information on the rooms.

People with unconditional offers get to completely reserve the room by paying the deposit because they're definitely going to the uni. People with conditional offers are only able to hold the room until results day where our offers are confirmed/rejected so we don't have to pay the deposit until after results day when our places have been 100% confirmed.
