Guys I've cracked it! This is the only thing you need for deciding on accomodation: the ones north of the med school are closest to Lidl and the ones to the west are closest to Tesco

Just got an offer yesterday - this is the kind of stuff we need :u:
hi just wondering which accomadations do most med school applicants pick?

Hi. Yes it really is close to the Uni literally across the road in the Westgate entrance. Then it'd about a 20 min walk to the med school. Alternatively thr tram is opposite and takes you to the QMC in around 5 mins.
The rooms a a good size I have an ensuite studio. There are 12 studios in my flat and it's been really easy making friends despite lockdown. Each studio has a bed with huge storage under, table and two chairs, wrap around desk area with shelving, large double wardrobe, draws and then kitchen area. This has a double hob, combined microwave which is also an oven as well and fridge with freezer compartment. Your ensuite is a wet room. Internet speed is excellent. We haven't been able to use the facilities on site like the Lounge/Library area due to Covid but hopefully that will lift in due course. The CoOp is across the road or a short walk into Beeston is Tesco, take aways, restaurant or hop on the tram into Nottingham. Tram also takes you straight to the train station in 15 mins. Hope this helps happy to answer anything else.Screenshot_20210220-173305_Gallery.jpg Excuse sister in picture this was moving in day. Hiya, I’ve just applied for a twin ensuite studio with my mate and we have a couple questions! 1) What’s the combination microwave oven thing like? Does it limit what mess you can make or can you still cook properly like in a normal oven ie. homemade lasagne or Shepard’s pie etc? 2) Are the twin rooms all next to each other or will we likely be near those with their own studios? 3)Do the studio rooms come with a toaster as I read they don’t! 4) Is there any common space other than the corridors such as a common room or lounge etc specifically for those in studio rooms? I assume there isn’t but thought it’d be worth asking. Thank you so much in advance!!

Yes I agree but I suppose first come first serve is kind of fair (not really for those who get decisions later on). Which unis are you waiting on?
I've heard that some of the accommodation is already full - how do people know this and is it actually that likely given that its only just opened?

i just checked the website and it says. i have to wait 48 hours, do you think any good accomodation will be left by wednesday
I’m still waiting to hear back from another uni - I don’t know what to do cos the other med school have said 3-4 weeks until they give out offers so gonna miss out on accommodation.

I'm in a similar position, I don't want to withdraw because I just want to know if I got an offer (after the interview) so it's a tough dilemma
Please can someone explain how accommodation works for A108 students at derby, is anyone planning on living in Nottingham and travelling to derby as I’m not keen on the derby accommodation

Very likely for the popular ones - it won’t appear as an option

Hi thanks for your questions I'll do my best to answer them for you.
1. The microwave combination oven is really good. You switch from one mode to another (so bear in mind what container you are using). You can cook a proper meal in them no problem at all.
2. The twin rooms are mixed with other single studios as I don't think there are many twin rooms possibly 1 or 2 per floor.
3. No toaster but there is a kettle! You can buy a toaster though.
4. There isn't any common space in the blocks with studios. However we tend to spend time in each others rooms playing cards, chilling etc. The site does have a Lounge and Library area but sadly they've been closed due to Covid19. Fingers x they will be back open to use soon and certainly when you start in September.
In terms of configuration of blocks in mine, there are 3 flats (corridors) per floor. Each flat has between 8-13 studios. It's really easy to make friends with fellow flat mates despite not having a share kitchen. It's quite nice having your own space it certainly doesn't stop you socialising.
Hope this helps. Any more questions please feel free to ask.
How do we know if accommodation is full?
